When you delete a character, there is a 10 hour timeframe until it's confirmed. You can undo it at any time until then. |

There is a 10 hour period last I looked that you can cancel at any time.
Also, you can petition in cases of accidental deletion to get you get your character and stuff back :) |

Haven't deleted since the new UI with Uprising, but in Chrome there was a big red countdown over the profile picture. Plus, once the countdown runs out you get the option to confirm it or finish the delete. |

I've deleted four characters now (wanted to see the different apartments and once to see what the sentinel class of Chromosome started with) and each one was not instant. Had to wait 10 hours on each before I got the 'dead forever' option. |

Well, CCP do have a game that contains some characters with 10 years worth of skillpoints, so they at least know how to do some things right  |

I deleted my 3rd alt during chromosome and it still is asking me to confirm delete even after the 10 or so hours countdown. So you got plenty of time to cancel should you delete. |

I'm surprised no one has mentioned this yet. there's a 10 hour delay between when you request a deletion and when you can confirm it. |

Plus once it has reached the 10 hour point, you have to then confirm it's deletion once and for all (at least that's how it was in previous builds). I deleted a character in the last build, never confirmed it's deletion after 10 hours and I still have that character today. |

So basically, after you say delete you have to wait 10 hours and confirm deletion. If you want you can abort deletion even after 10 hours. |

Now that I think about it.. 
This is almost like the system in place to prevent a merc from being deleted accidentally. You gotta wait ten hours and then confirm you really want to delete the merc.
Someone should tell the OP.
