Is this a bug? It's happened a few times now.
First one, ADS battle in the air. I got his ship flaming and plummeting into the ground. Defintely hit him several times, although I wouldn't be surprised if a Railgun or FG sniped the killing shot. It hit the ground and exploded..... and nothing. No kill, no assist, no anything.
Second one, on the ground with a Specialist Swarm against a tank. Nailed him once, hit him with an AV grenade, second Swarm round should finish him off. Again, couldn't tell if the tank blew up when my swarms hit, or if someone else sniped the killing blow... but no kill, to assist, no nothing.
I've also noticed this in the ADS with infantry kills. I get some splash damage, extremely obvious it was my missle that caused the splash. Some other infantry kills him... I get nothing, no assist.
What gives? This doesn't happen every time, but it's happening enough I'm noticing it. |

I get cheated out of DS kill assists all the time because those pesky pilots manage to coast their flaming wreck into the ground after the kill assist timer expires. They still lose the ship, but I don't get no sat-is-faction. |

When I shoot down dropships from the sky with, say, a railgun turret, I get 75 WP vehicle assist kill but nothing for the actual kill. It will say the pilot clone died.
Every single time. Sometimes the same thing happens when I shoot tanks. I think it happens when the vehicle burns itself to death, or otherwise die by it's own hands, ie. plummeting into the ground.
For dropships, this is what always happens, because it doesn't die until it crashes into the ground, even if you get a last shot at it while at almost zero health, and could be you hit down to 10HP or something on the tanks, and it burns to death.
This also applies if you shoot someone, and they jump off a tall ledge and die in the fall. You get an assist, since he suicided. |

I don't think the scores are being read right. I got 5 kills and 18 assists one match and only had a score of like 475. definitely not what I was supposed to have. |

After hitting zero armour on the Dropship, KEEP SHOOTING. They sometimes take a few hits post-crash'n'burn, usually 2 - 3 Militia Swarms, one Forge or a couple of higher-grade Swarm volleys should be enough. Secondary mid-air explosion = kill.
Unfortunately, the previews of Uprising showed Dropships taking their killing hit, falling, and crashing, then when they crash, the kill points and credit were going to the guy who actually shot them down, but in the build we got, THAT DOESN'T HAPPEN.
If you kill a Dropship that almost instantly hits the ground and explodes, then you get the kill. If it's more than 2m from the ground, or the pilot fights for control while falling and keeps it alive a moment longer, then you only get an Assist. If it's flying high, or manages to break line of sight and drift for a while before crashing down, there's a good chance that you'll be getitng NOTHING for the kill.
Also, if I hit a moderately-tanked LAV with a Militia Swarm Launcher, and it doesn't get instapopped like the free ones do, a few AR guys can shoot the thing, one of them will get the kill, another 1 or 2 get Assists, and I GET NOTHING FOR DOING ALL THE WORK.
Solution: Two parts.
1. Dropships get less "hull" HP after death, and damage carries over into this hidden HP bar. It should be reasonable to expect a Dropship to die in mid-air from a hard enough hit (mid-tier Forge Gun at most for Militia Dropships). Also, when a Dropship hits 0 armour, that should count as the kill. It should be locked in at that moment as whoever landed the shot taking it to 0 armour having credit for the kill, even if it doesn't apply until the crash.
2. Bring back damage WP on vehicles. When a single player deals a certain amount of damage to a Dropship within a limited timeframe, that player should receive a WP bonus for "vehicle damage". This would have a whole series of important effects on how AV is handled: 2.a) Players who watch for active resists being triggered will get better rewards by not wasting their shots while the target is taking less damage. 2.b) WP rewards for the final killing blow could be reduced by a relevant amount so a lucky SMG guy with the right timing doesn't get a +150 for "killing" someone's tank. 2.c) High-tier vehicles will, as a result of their increased HP, be worth more when soloed than lower-grade vehicles, because more damage WP will be earned before the vehicle is killed. |
