it's not much but just wanted to say I've come to like it a bit. in chromosome I was pretty much done with my role, I had nothing to work towards and was already speccing into other classes, everyone I faced was capped out in a class, and nothing really felt unique.
in this system I have stuff left to look forward to and when I finally do 5 a skill it seems like something has been gained, people I face are you usually focused on a single role and I can tell when I'm facing someone with high and low sp.
I know the SP system isn't perfect, but I think their is long term merit to high sp caps, and I think the major flaw right now is that the skills we put our sp into are so few, I'm fine spending 13 years capping out my chars, I just don't want it to be on 100 skills, more like 1000.
not much, and I know the majority of players want the really low capped in a month system we had before, but I am in the minority I guess, and the way it is now has grown on me a bit. |

it should be a short grind to get into your very first competitive role. not all roles need to be available immediately, just a few basic ones. then it should be a very very long grind to get into all the various specializations and customizations and other roles you want to play with. |

I think most people would say "Yes, the Skill Cap is a good thing." Even people who grumble about it will probably state that they understand why it exists.
The problem with SP system, a problem that I feel needs to be fixed, is how do you make it to where the guys with high SP (say 11 million+), medium-high SP (say 8 million+), etc have "stuff to look forward to" but the guys with 2 million actually have stuff they can do 'decently'? At the moment, that seems to be a little on the awkward side.
Be well. |

I think I am of the same opinion as you actually. I do not mind needing to earn a lot of SP to even cap out one particular role. At the moment it is a bit painful as I'm less effective with this new skill tree than I was with the old one, given the same general level of SP. My SP is buying less in this build than the last.
It's nice to earn proficiency, even if it takes a while for that initial role. I wouldn't mind needing 20-30M SP to get my core skills up and get a protosuit/proto weapon for my primary role. It would really differentiate the expereinced players and make the game more substantial. Besides, flexibility is great but capping out various roles just means I can use more suits.... but it's not like I can use them at the same time.
To each their own I guess.... |
