Hi,
I've played the game and loved it ever since it came out as a beta on PS+. I would not consider myself a newbie anymore but I'm also not one of those seasoned veterans who played everyday.
I took a bit of a break but came back this week to check out how things changed. I was surprised that there were clearly some balancing issues that needed to be addressed,
I just wanted to throw out some ideas to help out the newbies (including my own brother) who seems to be intimidated by the steep learning curve and lack of tutorial which coupled with the number of veterans on proto equips, make it a real challenge just to try to keep up.
1. I think that there should be a limit/quota on the number of people able to join a match with proto equips. About 25% to 50% of a team could be comprised of veterans. A veteran would be someone who has any of the proto dropsuits such as the v.k.0 dropsuits or any prototype-level equip. A proper definition of a veteran should be agreed upon and implemented for this to happen so the system could weed them out.
2. Next, I think that the system should try to mandate an equal number of veterans on each team. If there are 5 players with proto dropsuits on one team. the other should also have about the same number (plus or minus 1) to even things out.
3. If the above two are not possible, separate matches should be created for players with just proto equips.
4. A separate single player tutorial and tutorial-only match should be created. The single player tutorial will allow a player to learn the different dropsuits, equipments, vehicles, controls, etc. Skill points and money can be awarded at the completion of this.
5. The separate tutorial-only match can be a match in any one of the game modes (Ambush, Skirmish, Domination, Ambush OMS) where players can constantly join in on a match and learn the basics of the game. Skill points and money will not be awarded but the game can constantly refresh to allow the match to never end.
So far, these are the ideas I have. I welcome other players who have similar ideas on how to better the game experience for everyone to share.
I understand that veterans will be the only ones targeted by my ideas but I believe that we should welcome new players and let them learn the game properly.
Constantly one-shotting new players and not letting them get even one kill in are not the best ways to help make this community grow. |

I assume that the system would be able to recognize if a.) the player has a proto equip and b) if he/she's extensively used it. This way, even if a player would swap dropsuits or equips, the system already took that into account and will not even include a player who was hiding these proto equips.
Yes, I primarily meant instant battles/pugs. That's probably the most used system that players use to get into matches so I'd like the devs to especially be considerate to new players by implementing a rule of some sort to limit the usage of prototype equipment and/or at least even the numbers out so new players have a fair chance of winning.
I've also just learned about the "Instant Battle Academy" which is similar to my tutorial idea that the devs are currently or already implemented. I just came back this week so this is new to me. I'm currently trying to get more info on this.
Thanks for posting your thoughts and I welcome the discussion. |
