Aiming is not fine, and the problems are not due to what's described in this thread. This is a separate issue (a very real issue however ;)). I don't know what's causing it, maybe the PS3 can't quite handle the new graphics and models don't get rendered where they should be (enemy movement isn't exactly smooth, especially not in close quarters), or maybe the hit box and model didn't line up for some reason... or whatever lag compensation there is was broken in Uprising (most other things were so why not that ;)).
What I do know is that my hits don't always register, this is quite easy to see when using the shotgun. Yeah, I wouldn't trust a subjective "OMG I did *not* miss that shot" either, but I also get kills when I clearly missed the target... that is I've seen the swarm of bullets go past the enemy model and cursed the sluggish movement/aiming. The unexpected +50 just means one broken feature was cancelled out by another broken feature, not sure that is a good thing. |

The graphics on this game are not over the charts by any means I have seen other games go a lot crazier with their graphics. Hell I would say COD has more graphics than this and yes that is bad hit detection but that is because they took short cuts and no dedicated server.
Fair enough, should have said "maybe the PS3 can't handle the new graphics unless they optimize their code".

So it's connected to higher resolution= break lower resolution=fixed I just don't wanna play a PS2 game on my PS3 is why I don't keep it at 480p. That actually suggests that the problem IS lack of processing power/optimization. |

After playing a few games with HD resolutions disabled I've realized just how choppy things actually are now that I'm back to using 720p. It's horrible!
Sadly I can't really play at the lower resolution either, it's smooth but pretty much impossible to see what actually happens on the screen.
Also I still maintain this isn't *the* issue people have with aiming. The DS3 feels off for other reasons, and they too need to be fixed. |

Whoa, this thread is almost down on page two, better post something...
I dug out my move, sharpshooter etc. to see how they worked in Uprising. This aiming issue really ruined it, especially in close quarters. I remember shotgun used to work fairly well with the move a couple of patches ago (when I last used it) but it was impossible to aim what with the enemies moving in tiny warps and the random micro freezes whenever there was fighting around me. I think the problems were actually easier to spot when using the move, since you need constant visual feedback about where the cross hairs are.
(there are other move-related issues, but they aren't relevant for this thread) |
