I didn't catch the whole story about the respec, but it seems like there will be an optional respec. Is it a one-time thing? I think CCP should put in respec with AUR so people can do it anytime. |

It's a one-time thing offered on account of there being various issues with the current skill system. Some were minor, some were not so minor. Personally I'm in favour of a limited, Aurum based, respec system. CCP's silence on either side of this suggestion tells me that they are, at best, considering it. |

You know, thinking about it now, I'm not so sure about respec with AUR. Think about it, the ones with the money can easily respec as many times as they want. That's going a bit too far, abusing the system. Skills are meant to be permanent, much like in real life. A person can't learn, forget, then re-learn over and over again. That's messed up. |

CCP has been reworking stuff constantly in Eve and they almost never gave a respec with only one exception during launch and that was back in 2003. |

Or they are being silent because they know how game-breakingly bad that idea really is and they just like to keep you in infinite suspense.
There is no point in speculating about it. |

Negative.

How is it game breaking? Really, please explain this to me. The game still has a lot of gear that hasn't been released yet, so if someone has spent their 6 months worth of SP in Caldari dropsuits but would really rather play as the new Gallente suit, they just have to play a few more months to get it?
If they were given a respect for AUR, that wouldn't break the game at all. It would allow people to play the way they would be happy with and wouldn't ruin anything for anyone else. If you really believe that it would break the game, please find something else to do besides try to troll the forums and waste my time. |

No, I think Maken's right. I think it's still a form of abuse, especially overusing it with AUR. If everyone was changing skills all the time, it would be chaos. Maybe the Corp would be confused about their members' skills being different when it comes to their roles in battles. Think about 5 years later when you have trillions of SP even with new skills. For those without AUR, they would be crying about wanting a fair share of the respec too and it would be sorta labeled as a "pay-to-win" in a way. That's just my thoughts. |

The only thing that may become "chaos" is the market when new gear comes out like the fighter jets or new dropsuits, but as the market hasn't even been integrated into EVE it isn't a problem.
What is it abusing? A successful corp isn't going to micro manage their members' skills. In fact, it would be best for a corp that wanted their members to reskill into a specific fitting that they can create, once industrialization of infantry gear is made available.
Using AUR for a reskill is the same as using AUR for anything else in Dust. You wont be ahead of anyone, you'll just be spending money to save time. |
