Now that the LAV's use real physics, why don't we just continue this to make roadkills use real physics too? By no means can this game's balancing survive having our heavily armored and sheilded mercs, who can easily survive a 30 foot drop, die instantly the moment that a car touches them. And yet at the same time, it would just be stupid for a speeding jeep to even be brought to a stop by a single guy standing in the way, no matter how armored.
My solution is to allow for mercs to go bouncing off, over, and under the jeep during the impact: dealing damage(edit: to the merc, NOT the jeep) just like a freefall would, but still allowing them to walk away afterwards if they survive. This would still look visually plausible, as a speeding jeep would cause any mercs it hits to go rolling over the car or riding around on the hood until it stops, but one hit would no longer kill most of them.
They could probably just modify the current ragdoll system as well. Just make them go limp like when they get shot, yet leave the camera in place and then "revive" them automatically a second or two after they come to a stop.

Dunno taking a look at known armor in New Eden, power trains, and armor thickness of the LAVs... I highly doubt our crush-able cans of a suit would cause any amounts of damage unless our own reactors blew when we die. |

I meant that the MERC takes damage but doesn't necessarily die instantly, but yeah the LAV takes no damage at all (I wasn't even thinking along those lines!)
So in short, jeep always comes away fine, exoskeleton-clad dude that got hit goes over or under the jeep, but doesn't necessarily die instantly. Hope that clears this up. |

Im just gonna say im completely against this idea Lavs are far too vulnerable to infantry you can easily find yourself surrounded. Just because you or your team mates havent skilled in to AV doesnt mean you should complain when you get ran over. Lav drivers are powerless to do anything to infantry if they find themselves without a gunner or passenger. As of now when you run people over you dont just plow straight through them you get stuck momentarily and that's a fair penalty. |

+1 to consistent damage based on speed. no to auto kills. |

Atm you do need a fair amount of speed to kill someone if you dont have a head start the person you run over can survive the op is just overreacting. Ive had a lav try to run me over 3 times in a starter fit it wasnt until he backed up for more speed when he killed me. |

Personally, when I wrote the original post I was just floating out another way of handling LAV's since I had seen other people calling the overpowered. Everyone else was saying that they could either leave them as is, remove LAVs altogether, or remove this game's only free transport (bad idea in my opinion).
I just thought the OP was another option that should be put on the table :) |

I'd really love to see the bodies fly in the air :D
Currently it's far too easy to spend the whole game in a fairly armored LAV running people over, especially when against a bunch of scrubs |

I'm starting to think that LAV's shouldn't kill upon impact. They should severely damage, but I don't think soloing in a LAV should be a go-to tactic for free kills. This game is about risk and reward, is it not?
Just have LAV turrets deal more damage to compensate so the LAV will be a bit more deadly in the way a futuristic piece of machinery should be. Right now the deadliest part of the LAV is the bumper.

Less bumper cars, more pew-pew. Im gonna let you in on a big secret, here's how to blow up any lav that comes your way. Flux nade and a swarm launcher Sagas have alot of shield but no armor and the mathena has little shield and a lot of armor. Swarm launchers do extra damage to armor and AV granades are weak against shields so what's happening? Everyone is hording AV grenades and when the lav survives they go OMG lavs are OP. In reality though people are using the wrong method learn to be a better AV user. If there was just one squad that had a flux nade user and a av grenade user you could dispatch any free Lav fairly easily. |

Just wanted to point it out: In Uprising LAV's don't always insta-kill people they touch. Low speed impacts (such as hitting someone while trying to drive up a hill at them) rarely even drop shields half-way unless it's a scout. Moderate speed impacts (speed of about a second after taking off on flat terrain) will often do a fair chunk of damage but are often not lethal unless they can't get out of the way before you speed up more. High speed impacts (3-5 seconds of building speed from a stop on flat terrain) is almost always fatal, though I have seen a rare few heavies get slightly clipped (not a direct impact) and survive with a tiny bit of health. Max speed impact (when you can see the wind effects) are always fatal from what I've seen. I've never seen someone walk away from one of those unless the LAV hit something that slowed them down moments before impact.
Vet roadkiller of 9 months here btw, and have actually been speccing LAV's for it since Codex. |

I've never had a problem with killing LAVs. I actually want them to be tougher.
I'd just rather die to the turret than the bumper. I want to see LAVs be an effective anti infantry weapon platform, not a lawnmower.
Buff the turrets and lower collision damage to make it hard to kill someone by running them over. LAVs are deadly in the wrong way. |

Lavs are effective against infanty these people who are running you over have no skills put into their Lavs. They are easily dispatched when i encounter them with my superior fittings. Also i destoryed a saga today with a plasma cannon shot and a av nade. |
