They have cost me tens of millions of ISK each day crashing into my dropships without warning
As if there was much a reason to use these now at all, considering how nerfed, bugged, and broken they are. I think I'm done for a little while.
I could turn this into a HUGE rant and I'd love to but I'll sign off at this.
Unless things change quick I suspect you will lose many pilots. And likely a few players among them. At least we're an easily ignored minority, right? |

One solution would be a larger 'fake' collision bubble around them
If it detects a vehicle inside this area, it will re-path or stop and move around to avoid it. Imagine holding two magnets together with the same charge. That sort of repelling motion should keep them from smacking into each other |

However even enemy RDV's AI SHOULD want to avoid collisions. Since they may be able to analyze the size of an object quickly, but hardly could they tell it's mass unless they had very precise gravitational measurements (gravity being the weakest force, that'd be hard).
So friendly RDV should avoid us out of general strategic interest
Enemy RDV's AI should be avoiding us out of general good practice (not crashing into questionable objects/UFOs)
So... I'd love CCP to explain to me why they don't. Or at least tell us this is coming down the line and not going to be ignored or placed on a backburner forever. |

If someone has spent a lot of time and ISK to purchase a vehicle, just to have it blown up because of poor placement, then something needs to be fixed.
I'm not talking about delivery at all.
I'm talking about being in the air and a DS spawns 2 feet away from you and flys right through you. You can't do $*%& about it.
5 games today I've lost my ship to RDV's. Don't say "dont fly low" I wasn't even flying low, You see how far, how fast, and how high these things go? Besides if flying low is considered an automatic death sentence anyhow then this is a stupid game.
I'm out 8 million ISK in under an hour because of this absolute BS. Everyday.
Don't say dodge them, when you have momentum, a trajectory, and an RDV spawns in high next to you with you in it's flight path there is NOTHING YOU CAN DO.

With a clear sky and flat, even terrain, they're near enough guaranteed to drop their cargo right, and that's all that counts. Everything else is just the natural side effects of hot-dropping equipment into the middle of a battlefield.
How boring would it be if they delivered with 100% certainty, no matter where you called them in or what was going on around you? It makes you more aware of where you're calling hardware in, and when, and with all RDV pilots having a mandatory minimum level of alcohol in their bloodstream, every request is an emotional rollercoaster. and the times that they literally pick THE ONLY ****ING DIRECTION THERE IS ANY KIND OF BUILDING IN THE AREA to crash directly into from? I call it in an open field, I expect my entire-match-worth-of-ISK and still crappy car to be delivered in a timely fashion, and relatively intact. not slammed into literally the only object high enough withing almost a full kilometer. please tell me how my one, STILL CRAPPY car that costs several times more than your suit should just randomly be slammed into buildings because you can't get out of the way. I'm not even up to using the real meaty things for 'em yet, like tanks, and derpships, and the better LAV's. Please understand, I have a nice car too, and on more than one occasion, Speed TruckGäó has met a premature end due to the circumstances surrounding its delivery. I'm not just a suit lolling at your rage, I'm a driver, still lolling at your rage. And yeah, the AI can definitely get better. And dropship pilots could have more warning before the RDV decloaks on top of them. But the basic idea of you picking the spot and having to deal with the consequences has to stay. Want your precious gold-plated dropship delivered in one piece? You could go run over to that nice big plain in your own redline, and still get sniped just as it finishes delivery. War is hell.
Yeah I do that and it's mostly fine. Now that the maps are a little wider.
This thread is about in-air collisions. Talking about deployment is a bit of a derailment |
