Are the Blueprint items you get from the new mercenary, veteran and Elite packs just standard stuff with a new name? Or are they advanced? I cant find the stats for them anywhere. Thanks |

+1
I have purchased my share of Merc Packs, but anything other than very basic items would ruin the game. Player driven economy etc. |

The limit should be standard variants, like a breach standard ar bpo to go with standard ar. No adv or proto.
Only exception is imperfects were told they would get black ops lav for winning bta tourny. That would be a proto lav, but it is a grand prize for one off tournament with maybe 20-30 copies total, and they don't have it yet.

They have little in the way of options. CCP is getting good sales now because there's a lot of new players but people will only be satisfied with low tier reskins for so long before they demand something new and better.
I imagine they'll slowly increase the effectiveness of perm aur items until they're at proto level and try to justify it with incredibly high cost etc.
'Course this is an estimate of years down the road. |

The current "large" set of STD BPOs is $100. That's... not cheap. |

BPO's have no place in an FPS, the only reason they have them in EVE is so that people can manufacture stuff and sell it to make ISK, thats not the aim here, the aim is to shoot people in the face and earn ISK by winning battles,
EVE players should be the only ones able to buy BPO's so that they can start manufacturing, that way, the more people make of a particular item, the more the prices will vary, the more competitive the pricing will be,
Player driven market and all that jazz... |

Yeah I know. They're still basic gear and reskins of exsisting models. People are still excited over the same stuff with a new paintjob. Doubt that in two years anybody would be excited by or buying more of the same stuff they all ready own permanently with some new colors though. |

PC free to play market, man. Pay to win business model ruins a company's reputation but it's hella profitable. I don't want them to go down that route and they may not, bt if Dust doesn't bring in the money they need to stay afloat pay to win will look a lot more appealing to stay out of the red. |

The player driven market will decrease the incentive to get them however, and the money you can make off PC allows for corps to pay their players so price becomes less of an issue. Putting in high level BPO's would just make an issue of the P2W issue and will probably only provide a small return. |

Out of the red? dude they could probably just fund this with the profits they make from EVE, they hit the 400 thousand subscriber mark in January i think (or somewhere around that date), so 10 pounds a month at 400,000 subscribers? = 4 mil a month!!!!
I reckon they're simply using us Dusters to fuel more conflict in EVE, and there fore gain more subscribers to the EVE universe. |

Standard bu without the level requirements. Or should be anyhow. Also different appearance, as sort of either "I participated in this and this event" or "I supported CCP by buying this and that.
Unless you're entry level character, it serves little purpose other than having suits/modules that cost no money to accumulate some cash for your Prototype suits. |

In theory, sure. Player buying/selling is planned but that's all we know. They could do any number of things. CCP Has zero obligation to avoid the Pay to win business model apart from saving face and that's all there is to it. In the end CCP is a business and businesses need to make money and be profitable.
As long as reskins are selling they'll keep making them. |

They make 4 mil a month just from EVE, they dont actually need the profit. They could run Dust just from EVE takings. |

Game developement isn't cheap. Check out kickstarter; games with SNES graphics need almost a mil to fund and sometimes they need more from private investers etc.
I'm sure Eve being so successful is why Dust was born in the first place but I don't tbink Eve can singl-handedly sustain it. |

ok, youre probably right, maybe not single handedly, however, remember that EVE has now been going for 10 years, initial outlay for that game has already been and gone. Over heads now for EVE? minimal. I suggest you go to google and look up the CCP headquarters in Iceland. just simply wow. That thing cost a bomb. CCP arent short of a bob or two.
Alot of games companies will hire new talent for a new game that they produce, also the MASSIVE amount they spend on advertising. CCP and Dust didnt really need to do that, look at all the free publicity they had with simply the IDEA of linking two platforms and genres, and how many new guys did they hire to make dust? did they seek out any FPS guru's from other well established companies? well considering the amount of tweaks and build to get to just this point probably not. |
