Hello
I joined Dust on its launch day. I'm pretty new here and still unsure what I'm doing. I have never felt so new and lost in an MMO for YEARS.
A lil about myself, I'm a 28 year old female with a vast mmo/gaming history. I played 30 mmorpg (not including eve)
I do have a history in playing fps having played Halo (which Dust reminds me of). Now I'll like to state I'm enjoying myself. I typically suck in fps but I still have fun, and would like to improve.
Second this is just a test character as I'm unsure what to do.
Can someone care to give tips on what to do?
Like how skills work
The best way to set skill like do I go 5/5 then move on? or do I put point or to in everything I would and slowly go 5/5
How gear works and mods work in this game to better my survivability.
And general fps tips to simply do better.
I'm completely out of my element. I did read the newbie guide but still unsure of things
I also have a question too the eve players mostly, do you feel that people see dust as a stand alone from eve?
Do you think people misunderstand that eve and dust are connected?
I saw a fight last night where two people actually called an eve player elitist when he was trying to help others. Making a note that we dust players are in fact playing eve just in a different way. They scoffed at him acting like Dust and Eve are not interconnected.
also is it wise to alienate the EVE players with the "COD" mindset as he put it?
I only seek to be decent at Dust, have fun and be a decent person on the community.
Ninja edit, I also notice that if I use this site on the ps3, I can't log in. It stated there is a 404 error. I mainly use my ps3 as I need to borrow a laptop, is there a fix for this soon? or a way to access this via the ps3? I had very little issues using most forums on my ps3. |

don't over extend from your team, don't let the enemy bait you into an ambush, know when to disengage, know when to run and know when to press forward, this comes from experience. dont take on more than you can handle, you dont have to fight everyone you see. Quote:

local chat is like crossroads chat- not the brightest bunch
LOL most of that I know from Halo, but still welcomed tips. And what do you mean by crossroads chat?
as for the rest thanks a bunch for the tips and advice
From playing so far I prefer using a sniper, a submachine, and i forget what's it call but it is the gun you hold down the trigger to target then once you have lock on you fire and it hit the target vehicle/ turret .
For gameplay i prefer stealth, but if I can't I prefer having decently armored/ shielded gear to take a hit as I use a speedy gun to nail a person.
And jammer ty for the welcome, I know it is rare for female to play mmo let alone fps. LOL In most cases I'm the only girl in a guild.
About joining a corp I'm unsure how to go about that. I'm typically the type to wait for an invite. And not a random one. I have had bad luck in DCUO when it came to VC and joining their guilds.
And I never played EVE so I'm not sure how the community is. |

People have conflicted opinions about this, but the general opinion(mine included) is that DUST 514 and EVE Online are one and the same, but only designed for different people. And most of the time the talk in local is less than intelligent, so the best course of action to deal with the arguments in local is to just ignore them. And can you clarify about the COD mindset? It could mean anything from caring more about your stats than helping the team to whining about every single thing that kills you as being overpowered.
I base what I know off of what the wiki for eve/dust stated, and what the game stated. Pretty much while the eve players are playing eve (in space) we dust players do ground combat. What goes on in dust and eve affect each other. And from what I'm noticing we share the same servers as dust and eve players take to each other.
As for the COD mindset it pretty much sums it up as a very whiney cut throat mindset that you pretty much solo and slaughter. Pretty much the red=dead concept in pvp came from such this mindset. And if ppl lose you hear them cuss up a storm. They only care for themselves and don't see this as an MMO. Pretty much if you played DCUO you will see what I mean. There was for a LONG time a denial that dcuo was an mmo. And most part very rare do ppl work together.
Also said guy stated you will get far if you use the EVE mindset of how the game works, since it is apart of EVE. |
