If that game is so much better, why are you here. I promise nobody would miss you. Lol just letting it be known they can make more money this way. I though a CCP Fanboi like you might like the idea lol
Every time somebody uses "lol" as a word element of a sentence, the collective IQ of the entire world's population drops by 1%. You are a burden on society. You are bad and you should feel bad. |

Peace B I'll bite. +1 It would slow down douche alt account and post. If anyone can make as many alts as they want then ISK means nothing. I make an acount with a CEO toon and then just new toon after new toon to donate the starter money to the CEO Toon's corp. Free money and whenever we can trade it will allow anyone to get as many special items as they want and just give it to another character. The economy isn't going to work too well when I can print money and items at will for free. I say one free account with three toons. This is called an exploit and if ccp finds out your doing this you get ip banned or your main gets -1000000000 isk... the penalty for rmt is my personal favorite.
This. If you are exploiting the system for unintended purposes, then you should know that CCP, while arguably the most friendly and laid back bunch of devs you'll ever get to know, are incredibly merciless when it comes to banning people for this stuff. There are whole forums scattered around the internet devoted to whining about how ebil CCP are for "banning me and all I was doing was running a botscript to manage 60 accounts mining ice at once while I afk'd and jerked off to **** instead!!" |

makes ya wonder about some of the "corps"?
but back to topical:
they need money. this is a way to make money. first account should be free, rest should cost ya.
game is free. that's called F2P
add ons are not. that's called bidness.
can't have 1 without the other.
Peace B
I don't think you understand how F2P works, or how long EVE has been running, with over 50K subs, plex sales and online store purchases for a decade. DUST is a companion game to EVE. Even if DUST itself runs at a loss, when you factor in profits from EVE and include the fact that people will still spend money on DUST, you can have an effective sub-free F2P model for DUST whether it rakes in the profits or not. |

1.5 = pay for that account, and the other 2 on it.
i understand how F2P works.
i also understand basic math:
6000 people is not massive and won't carry this game very far if the devs don't make money off of it.
Peace B
You obviously don't know basic maths or you wouldn't leave out simple variables. You're forgetting the 50,000+ sub count on EVE that are paying CCP good money. That's the point I'm making. DUST players are like unemployed people on welfare (free game) payed for by the taxes EVE players (subs, plex, online store purchases). The game will survive, because even if it stays at only 6000 players, the material cost of it is payed for by a decade-long established MMO, which means it's been around for even longer than WOW and still survives. It's this kind of persistence against all the odds that demonstrate what make CCP (AKA Crowd Control Productions) a different kind of development team from your regular old Blizzard or EA.
You're also leaving out the variable of the fact that CCP don't have shareholders to pander to, because all the company's owners are on the board (majority owners being the company's staff and founders, Novator Partners and the American investment fund General Catalyst Partners). They can make their games any way they choose this way, and retain a loyal following of core fans that for the most part, would still pay a sub if one was required for DUST in the future. But, hey, it's CCP, and they decided that they could afford to run an F2P MMO off the back of profits from their very-long-running pay-to-play MMO, which is the most successful pay-to-play MMO on the market if you only consider how long it's been running by the same sub system, with minor tweaks and variations along the way (such as publishing it themselves instead of giving it to Simon & Schuster Interactive as they once did). |
