iam a bit curious as to why the maurder hav's (Surya and Sagaris) were removed from the game. i understand that there were a lack of modules that shoulod have made them more effective but as a HAV they were somewhat doing what they were mean to do. recive damage and give out a lot more damge than standard havs can. the surya for example when fitted with a scattered ion can easly roll over any challenger or av guy that may step up toi fight him. the surya is effective in the fact that the marduers rol is to simply get in front of the enemy and demolish them. the surya had the 4% blaster damage bonus, top that off with a SIC. plus a damage mod and you have a mean tank dloing what it should be doing. the sagaris was also a nice tank to drive and fight although they rarley equipped missikle launchers they teneded to be more difficult than the starndard gunnlogi. Many of us were happy for what the maruders could do. but then when uprising came it all went to @#$% and us tankers got left with HAV's woth less fitting options due to constraints on pwr grid and cpiu, and a crappy enforcer hav that whule has nice damage projection and range lacks proper EHP to do its job. yes they can sit at the back of the map and hit things. they still are within forge range and cant take a hit.
Now the maurders on the other hand were working fine but iam still confused as to why they were romved? yes theyn are difficult to reomve but like and HAV it should require a team effort to bring them down. so if the enforcer hav's are from damage and range then will the maruders simply become pure frontline defence platfroms or be like they were befor removal. a beast tank worth skilling for and using. |

It's specifically listed as a temporary removal in the Uprising patch notes.
They'll be back. |

Hopefully they will remain the same but i think ccp mentioned balancing issues but with they way people who complain about tanks ( normally people who dont use or know what to do with them) that will mean its being nerfered. but as the maurder descripton states it SHOULD have better power grid, cpu and damge output than what the other hav varients have and deal. |

Marauders in Chromosome (and before) have always been about high damage output.
Now we have Enforcers as a "glass cannon" type vehicle with a damage buff. I'm inclined to think that the Marauders will become the "tank" tanks, with resistance, or extra HP or something to make them more durable. |

People need to STFU. You're complaining about too many complaints.
You need to take your own advice. The solution starts with you! |

It is being reworked. This could mean two things-
1: There nerfing them
2: They're giving them siege modules.
I think it's 2.

Originally the Maruarder skill gave damage bonus's but thats what Enforcers do, so in theory the Sagaris and Surya when they return will probably be more toughness based rather damage so it may give damage resistanc or extra armour and shield ect. |

People were to lazy to specialize in AV while tankers focused on HAV. For the first few months tanks dominated because everyone thought they could do something with militia swarms and AR fire. So instead of putting some SP into some better AV, they took their fight to the forums and the nerf bat came down. Tankers played the game right and got burned for it because people wanted to to play CoD with a shade of chrome on it. On top of the marauder "temporary removal," tanks have their PG nerfed so they can't even use their modules anymore.
Call it a hunch, but when marauders do come back, they'll probably be anti-aircraft meant for LAAs long before LAAs are even in the the game. Not for laying out groundwork, but just to kick HAV while they're still down. |

thats what my thoughts are atm. you have 1 tank that is a glass cannon as you sya, one that is a pure tanking beast and of course the blackops varient. |

Care to explain why it should take a team effort to take down any HAV ? ... maybe when a HAV takes a team effort to operate.
No matter how much it costs or requires in sp investment, nothing should allow one player to dominate an entire team without risk of loss. AV should be a viable counter to vehicles and same level gear should be repatively balanced ... that means a militia swarm or forge should be able to solo a militia HAV, even a well fitted one so long as the AV fit is damage modded (I'm not saying one hit kill, it should be difficult but possible ... which it is) ... scaling up, a basic swarm/forge should manage a basic HAV ... an advanced AV for an advanced HAV and proto AV for proto HAVs ... the problem is proto HAVs have only ever been in DUST very briefly, so you people seem to be under the impression the Surya and Sagaris are the proto level ... they're not ... that would be the Black Ops HAVs.
That being said ... as the meta level increases the difficulty to solo should diminish, such that a Sagaris or Surya should be pretty difficult to solo with its respective AV (swarms for armor etc.) ... which they almost always have been ... and a proto HAV should be near impossible to solo, which it will be with its cloak, it will require someone with active scanner n webs etc.
Long story short ... other than the (I agree) unnecessary removal of the pg bonus skill, and the unnecessarily heavy nerf missiles previously saw (but they had been so op for so long) ... HAVs have been working very well and balanced all things considered.
If you think you've got something to complain about ... take a look at dropships and then think again.
Also you all state how sp intensive and costly it is to drive a HAV ... well take a look at entry level logistics and compare it to your entry level HAVs.
My opinon as a previous Surya driver (E3) ... previous AV specialist (until Uprising) ... and current logibro ... yes I like a challenge ! |
