Optional Helmet removal in Merc quarters and War room. (The Room you are in before a match) Of course this will mean having the ability to customize your characters face. By default, your helmet will not show in merc quarters and war rooms. In EVE, you can make a characters appearance. Why not dust? Alot of games on ps3 can do this. Its possible with how the ps3 preforms. Also it wouldnt need a rendering when helmet is on. So during Battle its not even a issue. And in War rooms, the most amount of people in there would be, 24? That shouldnt be a problem. Let me know what you think about this. |

You're just full of good ideas! This has definitely been suggested before but is still a great feature that I would like to see. First I think it would be nice if we could rotate 360 around our character... |

Not gonna happen, not even Soon(tm).
The PS3 cannot handle CCP character creation. Once CCP decides to migrate some of that to another platform then it would be possible although totally useless in game. An iOS App or a web based solution would work.
Assuming enough security that didn't have players log in only to find their head now looks like an actually fluffy bunny. |

The PS3 can handle Face cutomization perfectly. You think just cause a ps4 is coming that the ps3 is incapable of preforming the simplest thing? Mass effect series does a fine job at making faces. Guess what. Its on PS3. heck even 360. Thats saying alot. Sure EVE may have visually awesome face customization. But it isnt perfect. And it doesnt need to be visually the same or better. Just give it a simple make over and presto. You can make faces on the game. |

*looks it up*
Oh snap. Didn't know that also ran on the Unreal 3 engine. Learn something new everyday.
Anyways, I would like to have face customization but I believe core things need to be fixed first. Aiming, terrain, dropships... Long way to go before I can support the idea of face customization. |

I wouldn't mind being able to use CCP's Character Creator on the PC and have it as my Avatar for the forums. That'd be cool. |

It's a very large and time consuming addition to a game that isn't going to use it at any point in the near future and currently has a lot more pressing issues to deal with.
CCP are not short of dreams. They have them all the time. But eventually someone has to decide which things to actually work on, and the answer can't be Everything. |

Consider this.
A military-grade clone in Dust is technically a recycled clone that died in battle in so many horrific ways that the body is beat up and breaking down slowly.
Now, do you really want to see what's under the helmet? |

Now, do you really want to see what's under the helmet? what? na man it's a fresh body. we're transferring consciousness not the scars. technically your barge clone never fights they're safe wherever they are in space, they transfer their consciousness to the battlefield from the comfort of their quarters and then transfer it back to the quarters when their done. if understand it correctly. they work like jump clones in EvE. |

Oh, ok. So my clone in the merc quarters is Capsuleer-grade while the ones on the field are disposable? Nice. |

Both incorrect. Cloning tech in EVE is based on a snapshot of the time the individual was cloned. You cannot have the personality moving tech installed in a living person so they add them to 'dead' clones. When you're ready, they remove your conciousness and kill the original body (So the one you're sat in behind your PC!) and they move it to a waiting clone. You can see this in the Origins trailer here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FZPCiqBLPM8 and the book Templar One points out this is the exact same tech the capsuleers use.
You have to realise, we are not Star Wars style, vat-grown clones (Though they do exist) we're soldiers who had alien tech inserted into them. The cloners take a snapshot of the body at that time, it's fitness, injuries and genetic code and the like. It can then be "inserted" into waiting embryonic clones that then mature to the point of that snapshot in mere hours.
This tech has existed in EVE for 10 years now and is used by the Capsuellers every day. When you die, the alien tech in your head snap-shots your thoughts and consciousness at that EXACT moment, removes it from the body and beams it into a fresh clone that already looks exactly like you and has all your little nuances that make you, you. Including hair and facial hair.
To answer the question: CCP want you to have a face and a personality for when it comes to interacting with Capsuleers in the 3d environment. It's also shown off in trailers.
It's a long way off, but it's coming. |
