There is a fantastic logistics thread (based on Chromosome build) but much of it is still significant for the Uprising build.
All four suits provide support, but I would not look at the suits at the proto level only. Only Gallente and Minmatar provide 3 equipment slots at the STD and ADV level. At the proto level, Gallente and Minmatar provide 4 equipment slots and Amarr and Caldari provide 3 equipment slots.
If you are going to be running around in proto level suits every time and you only need 3 slots, then take your pick. But if you will run STD and ADV suits and still want 3 equipment slots, then your choices may be limited. Of course, this can all change with any patch.
As for their roles, they are all support suits as I said, but based on the suit bonuses, I feel the Amarr and Caldari are closer to assault-logi where the Gallente and Minmatar are closer to full support logi.
Amarr has a bonus to active armor tanking and a sidearm at proto level (the only logi suit with one) and Caldari has a bonus to shield amounts via extender. So I feel that the Amarr and Caldari closer resemble a frontline support logi. There are various topics about nerfing logis or just the Caldari logi, this may or may not bring about a change in the suits bonuses, so keep in mind that as usual, these things can change.
Minmatar has a well rounded slot layout (4 lo, 4 hi, 4 equip at proto) and provides a hacking bonus. It's other redeeming quality is its speed. Because Minmatar's bonus is not module reliant, its also pretty versatile. The 4/4 split allows you to equally choose which type of tanking (speed, armor, shield, etc.) or to go for damage and still tank.
Gallente has the only bonus to equipment use (go figure). It's slot layout is geared towards lo slot preference. Personally, assuming no changes in the future, I will probably respec into Gallente. I like my Minmatar suit, but the hacking bonus is lackluster. I'm usually too busy covering flanks, raising dead allies, healing, or throwing down nanos to prep for the next fight than to cap an objective. My intended role is to support using equipment, and the only suit that provides a bonus to equip use is the Gallente. So that's where I will probably head.
But, hopefully, this provides a quick breakdown of each race's logi suits, and my take on what their intended roles are. I'm sure you wil |
