I've touched on this topic before, but I feel the idea merits its own thread.
The solution to our controller issues isn't to try futile patch after patch, or to nerf mouse users, or to provide more pre-configured control schemes. The solution is to make a fully functional control panel for all input devices. We should be able to tune our own sensitivity, invert our axes, bind our buttons, set our turn speeds, modify acceleration curves, everything.
Anything else is just a futile attempt at corralling everyone into a one size fits all control scheme, all the while frustrating some percentage or another of the player base, and locking up CCP's time in a constant cycle of "try it now".
But hey, don't take it from me. Joystiq's initial review of this game spends three paragraphs lamenting the game's current controller issues. And for all of CCP's efforts on "improving" the graphics, the visuals solicited a total of one sentence fragment and one footnote from the reviewer.
Aside from the triage necessary to fix the current severe issues with mouse and DS3, the next bit of code written in regards to controllers should be to hand over stewardship of the controller variables from CCP's employees to the the individual player.
Let us take control of our controls. |

Looks like the demand for this idea is there:
Axis Inversion: https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=59888
Key Bindings: https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=63815
Acceleration: https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=77933
But why have just one of these features, when we could have them all? |

Another unfavorable review:

This is more fair than others, but the reviewer attacks the controls pretty hard.
I know that you guys can't take back this botched launch, and I know you are working hard to fix all the things, but stop wasting time on meddling with our control schemes.
Give us our controls. |
