I spent some SP to test out the Scrambler Rifle knowing I will be doing a respec.
We all know new items are on the way even after this. Suits, weapon types, modules (I'm sure).
I hope to god we don't see constant respecs. As other's have said you can create a new character but then you have newb zone and it isn't a proper test and etc etc.
Anyway why not give out Tier 1 skill free BPCs? We would get idk 20-30 of an item added into the game of basic tier that we could use. This would (of course) be dependent on the item. Can't have that work with vehicles because I don't feel like playing dropship514 or HAV514. I would play Mech514 but that is besides the point here.
it could be argued that when the open market happens this will devalue Aurum BPC items that require no SP to use. I did just buy the elite pack, I could probably spare the AUR for 20-30 scrambler rifles, but screw you, shut up.
Optionally you could do something time deteriorating. The trick being 100% clear about the timing. When accepting it into player inventory it should have a timer visible on how long it will last. It should have it when selecting it from inventory as well.
These could either be BPCs or BPOs that deteriorate over time. End of time, no more item.
I would suggest the timer starts on first spawn with item. If you activated it when being accepted into inventory you'd have cries of "I was going on vacation today!". In an ideal world I'd say it was an item that could only be used for "X" timeframe (like the first 3 days of a new item), but communicating this to a user would be too frustrating.
Granted these timed items still might be in the wild when open market starts but more as collector's items. A toy that can't come out of the box or it loses it's value. If you buy it under the wrong impression then welcome to new eden, you got screwed by players not CCP.
The tank would still be an issue in the above for BPOs... hrmmm.
Tanks tanks tanks. Can't have aur equivalent because that seriously impacts value of people who spent $. Can't have time deteriorating BPO because tank514, Time deteriorating BPC would technically work but is clunky in terms of how easy it is to understand from a user perspective as well as if you get into if you have more than one stack and properly displaying info. Lotta work there. tanktanktanktanktanktank... Cooldown? Items which require a cooldown to spawn again? Maybe a BPC that can only be utilized every X minutes/hours and when you get more it just pops on top? Restricting 1 tank per 2-3 hour would prevent tankfest as well as let someone try one out next play session or if you play long enough try again until they ran out of copies.
The above also sets up for potential special events where you let players try weapons that aren't seeing enough use or maybe premade fits even.
The last tank concept there also could be used for certain super high tier items that can only be used every X minutes/hours. Take out the guy with the supergun and he can't use it for another 30min. Heck maybe take out the guy with the superman gun and he won't be able to use it for the PC battle in 3 hours...
tl;dr; hand out no skill required items so people can try new stuff without skilling, also some other stuff. idk read it. |
