Hi,
Topic says most of my question. Just interested in Infantry weapons.
For Vehicles its easy to figure out as an eve player :P

Blasters, railgun, forge gun, Assault rifle, and sniper rifles.
Anything that is Rail X, or fires a bullet. |

What about the Shotgun?
the description says it fires plasma but its a gallente weapon so in eve they use hybrids and so caldaris do.
just asking cause i want to know which weapons count for the caldari medium assault suit bonus. |

Shotgun is a hybrid weapon, so is the AR, sniper rifle, forge gun, and plasma cannon. |

All Gallente and Caldari designs are hybrid.
Plasma and Rail weapons, they are both Hybrid.
All Minmatar designs *yuck* are low tech, aka, Ballistics, and all Amarr designs *hail the empress!* are Energy weapons.
As you are a former EvE player, you should know that it's easy to spot their distinct designs in each weapons.

Yeah, they also have missiles. lol
Missiles are in the "explosion" category.
Just sayin'.
Plasma cannon IS a hybrid weapon.
If fires the same kind of Plasma the Gallente Plasma AR fires.

So currently none of the sidearms are hybrid weapons which is a bit upsetting for all those Gallente Assault players. |

Hybrid weapons fit into two categories:
1. Physical projectile producing a result more like that of an energy weapon = Railgun.
2. Energy projectile producing a result more like that of a ballistic weapon = Blaster.
Plasma is an energy projectile, not a physical one. Plasma Cannon isn't bundling the energy into such a tightly-contained projectile that it acts like a bullet. It's reasonable to question whether this qualifies it as a Hybrid or not.
EDIT: I've been expecting it to be an energy weapon, not just because of the above logic being a viable reason, but also because having one Light AV weapon focused on shields and the other on armour would make sense, and emphasise the flexibility of the Forge Gun.
'NOTHER EDIT: OP specifically asked about infantry weapons, which is why I didn't list vehicle turrets. But yes, Missile Turrets are also non-Hybrid Caldari weapons. |
