Domination isn't really a new game mode. That should just be in the Skirmish rotation like it used to be.
Ambush and OMS can be separate game modes for now, but in the future there should only be one ambush, and instead of random installations falling whenever, you'll be able to call in your own installations you buy from the marketplace. Like you do with vehicles. |

Domination should be in rotation with skirmish. Ambush should be small, infantry-only maps. OMS would be a larger scale Ambush mode with vehicles and installations.
This is how it should be. |

I would like to be able to choose what game mode I play. If I have ten minutes, I want to play an Ambush, not Ambush OMS.
Although you do make a good point, I don't think your thinking about DUST's target audience. It's for the casual gamer too, and letting the computer pick if you have a 5-10 minute match or a 20+ minute one will ruin that. Think of more people but yourself when you suggest these kinda of things, it's pretty obviously a bad idea....
I'd also like to point out, being only OK at this game at the best of times, since yesterdays update, the player base seems to be distributed more evenly and my games were FUN. I wasn't just running into Proto's all the time and I've had some of the best games since I starting playing yesterday. So for me, the game has improved 20 fold by hold the player base has been split up.
tl;dr:
I'll be damned before I let the computer decide how I play this game..... And putting everyone into one room may fill games, but that's about it. |

Why exactly does it annoy you that people want to play different game modes? And in what way are the different options splitting the player base? If you think itGÇÖs splitting the player base you should be asking for one game mode only; instant battle. Then the computer can decide which battle youGÇÖll be playing. I would personally hate that.
And even if ambush and ambush OMS are technically the same, they still play very differently; same with skirmish and domination. I played a few rounds of domination last night and it feels more like an ambush OMS to me. Not saying it wasnGÇÖt fun, but itGÇÖs still very different from skirmish.

If that is the case then it sure isn't showing. I can pick whatever I want and get in a match instantly. The player base is strong enough to support 4 modes plus 2 alternatives (FW and PC).
Also I'm not a big Ambush player so can't really comment there, but Skirmish and Domination are nowhere near the same mode. Sure you're trying to blow up an MCC with a null cannon again, but the entire strategy and tactics required are completely different. That to me constitutes a new mode and I would hate if I wasn't able to specify which one I wanted. |
