I have officially made the SR my weapon of choice. It is simply everything I have ever wanted in a gun, and CCP delivered that to me. The week following the release of uprising my average kdr in a match was less than 1. Now, I get 10+ kills with this thing every match. It's fun to use, but you know what? It's a skill based weapon.
The reason I say this is because I only have level 3 operation and run with standard SR's most of the time. Sure a lot of people have chosen to shield tank over the past week because "that's what worked"...so I do have the advantage there.
But there is one thing that bothers me. My SR chews through armor too :/ ____________________
This gun is so close to being perfectly balanced. The charge shot works as intended, the damage is where it should be, and the overheating mechanic makes it so that you can run around pummeling your whole clip into someone's skull. The only thing missing is a lower damage to armor plates.
Why do I say this? I am a logistics player, and I run with heavies a lot. I also kill heavies a lot, and know how easy it is to take one down with this gun. It's not right, or rational. If I get 5 or 6 headshots after a charge shot on a heavy that should be enough to deplete his armor, but not 5 or 6 body shots after one. ____________________
I see a lot of players saying that "the overheating is too quick" for this weapon. That is WRONG. By having a quick overheat time, it makes this weapon lethal in skilled hands, not just any person who wants to run it. If you don't want a quick overheat, skill into the assault variant so that you don't have to deal with it and can run around fully automatic. That or switch to the AR, they have a good tactical too that doesn't overheat.
A weapon that can instantly deplete shields needs to have some form of drawback, and the overheating is key. Without it, the weapon becomes overpowered because of the more bullets allowed to be fired before it has to cool down. This screws up the damage balance; I don't want CCP ruining their best weapon yet. |

Explains why the thing is good against armor? Or why it takes skill to actually use properly? |

Honestly, I don't think the Scramer is balanced. It's basically a Duvolle Tactical Rifle, and more. Sure, up close a Balac could screw you over, but that doesn't happen very often. And I say this from experience as well. I don't feel clean using it. |

Duvolle Tactical Rifles are broken and overpowered. if the scrambler rifle had came out a week ago, before everyone started using TAR's, people would be screaming the scrambler rifles are op, and no one would be saying that caldari logis are op.
Not our fault CCP chose to wait to release them for absoluting no reason that was shared with us. |

A Duvolle Tactical Rifle not only has a longer range, but is able to fire 30 shots without stopping to cool down.
The main weakness to the SR is range, and armor. This is why I feel that the SR should not do as much damage to armor to give players a way to skill into something that beats the SR.
Besides, the fact that the SR balances out the shield tanking players in the game makes it a wonderful weapon.

Well now that we have a good counter against shields, those players will have to learn from their mistakes of skilling into caldari logi/Tac AR
Oh wait, that's right. We have another optional respec inbound. |

I really must agree to disagree. I've been running with this gun most of the day and going up against a heavy i would rip his shields of and then take a ludicrius amount of time chewing though his armor. When t comes to the charge shot variant you have to charge it up then aim at a guy and if you aim hell yeah he takes a bunch of damage. But that's it as you said it takes skill. If you miss with that shoot you'r gonna be sad because it took a whole lot of heat so you can't just spam 3 uncharged shots right afterwords because boom overheated. Also i'm sad running into gall guys now, it takes forever to shoot them with the SCR While scouts and lower WEHP caldari / minm suits aahhh hahahah !!!! may your shield burn !!! |

What everyone has to remember is that the current AR's (Gallente Assault Rifle and Amarr Scrambler Rifle) are balanced so when the remaining AR's (Minmatar Combat Rifle and Caldari Rail Rifle) come into the game, all ranges and damages should have a hard counter for each circumstance. The problem right now is primarily that the other guns simply are not here yet making it seem unbalanced.
The other guns can be seen here.
Gallente Assault Rifle: High Damage/Short Range
Minmatar Combat Rifle: Medium-High Damage/Medium-Short Range
Amarr Scrambler Rifle: Medium-Low Damage/Medium-Long Range
Caldari Rail Rifle: Low Damage/Long Range |

It has has Horrible Drawback. The feedback damage , you EAT 60 damage if it overheats, and its not nearly as good as the TAC AR at CQC combat.
You can Spray a TAC AR without any consequence. The Scrambler R takes skill because of the shot management and distance criteria. While the TAC, doesn't. |

Sorry for the late reply. It explains the armor damage if you read it carefully. I was questioning the amount of damage it was doing as well(compared to Laser Rifles for example), but I feel the weapon's description explains the damage dealt to armor pretty well, to where it makes more sense at least. |

The damage adds up as it should be, based on how the weapon-types in New Eden compare, but the range of the Tac AR versus other weapons is quite honestly broken right now. As I said on another thread, if this is to remain, then by the same principle, the equivalent Caldari Rail Rifle should almost, if not have the range of a sniper rifle which is absurd, but that is branching into an entirely different issue. |
