First things first, let's try and keep this serious guys and gals - no crying OP or UP ok?
Now that we've gotten that out of the way....
I'll only be speaking of the advanced SCRs and up but overall I personally am really enjoying the scrambler rifle. The tier 3 SCR does ~76 HP dmg and shoots at 705rpm. The Proto does ~80 HP dmg and shoots at the same 705rpm. Keep in mind that the higher damage SCRs are semi auto with a charge shot feature.
The SCR as we all know wrecks shields and therefore is a nightmare to the Caldari and Minmatar (depending if they chose to shield tank over armor) players. Now the most common complaint I've seen on the forums so far is that people can chip enemy shields away blindingly fast, but it becomes a grueling chore to get through the armor - and oh btw it overheats if you spam R1. I myself haven't really run into this problem because I personally run two enhanced light damage modifiers along with my SCR, but if you are I recommend carrying the Flaylock and Locus Grenades to deal with the armor. A well placed headshot with the SCR charge shot can OHK an enemy but if it is a body shot it usually fully depletes the shields and takes out anywhere from a quarter to a third of armor. The SCR has from what I can tell zero recoil and spread (it shouldn't have spread....it's a laser) ,so it is easy to hit an enemy repeatedly and quickly in the same spot (easy headshots). The SCRs reload is also very quick and I look forward to speccing into rapid reload for it to see how much faster it can get.
NOTE - As some may have noticed, a charged shot followed by quick follow up shots causes you to overheat VERY quickly.
As for the fully auto SCRs the tier 3 does ~35 HP dmg at 705rpm while proto does ~40 HP dmg at 705rpm. Unfortunately I have not used the fully auto variants so perhaps someone else can review those.
Something I found a tad odd with the SCR is that you can indefinitely hold the charge shot without overheating - idk if CCP meant for this or overlooked that the SCR allows for it. |

Can you confirm NO recoil on the proto scrambler rifles? Even the full auto ones? |

I didnt notice much recoil on my advanced SR, but I defo noticed a good bit of dispersion.
More dispesion than a GEK with ARSS1. |

The semi variants are cool but TAC AR is still stronger with higher range and no overheat.
The auto variants damage to armor is too low so expect lots of kill assists and guys surviving while running around the cornrr with 40~70 armor left. And general ARs have higher range and no problems dealing damage to armor (90% is barely noticeable). I think I'm going damage mods with this one really. |

Yeah as stated above it has very little recoil but the dispersion is crazy, i like it im having fun with it but wish it had more of a specialty more than just killing shields as an AR has more range and can put more damage out over time (only certain amount before over heating) ive had to rely heavily on the flaylock for finishing most people off |

Ohh you can hold the charge? That just kicks it up a notch. Ive been wanting a bit of an "assault" sniper role and this gun may help me do so. |

I'm not really seeing the dispersion. Maybe it's because I'm not spamming it, but all of my shots have been insanely accurate.
Damage mods really do make this weapon start to shine though - it eats through armor far quicker with damage mods. |

I say now that we have the scrambler rifle we should take out tactical assault rifles. It would make skilling into assault rifles more of a specialization. Scrambler rifles are sort of fulfilling the same role as tactical rifles, except they are far more balanced against other weapons in that they overheat so they can't be hip fire spammed as much when someone gets close. Right now the scrambler rifles are just worse versions of the assault rifles. I can spam bullets at people with my mouse with the tac rifle until the person drops. With the scrambler at least I have to be aware of overheat. |

I've also come to notice that the SCR is a scout's worst nightmare.
Had a shotgun scout earlier today try and sneak up on me....just spammed the SCR at him and he was down in around 7 shots. I then did this to him about six more times before he learned his lesson and left me alone lol. |

If I could like this 1000 times I would.
The TAC AR has far too little drawbacks to have an increased range over SCRs
SCR Drawbacks - Less armour damage, overheating + damage feedback, less range than ARs
TAR Drawbacks - Eh....em......
You can tell I hate the TAR |

Was a crappy shotgunner then ;)
Surely if I can take out the average SR'er with a knife a shotgunner shouldn't have any issues either up close...especially if he snuck up on you. |

Yea the scrambler rifle is beast. The charge variant actually takes skill because it heats up so quick. And the full auto variant is nice, better then a duvoll. I love the gun, its nice.
Now all we need is officer weapon scrambler rifles... C-mon CCP... damnit

Imo it's pretty well balanced. The TAR requires either a rebalancing in range or some real drawback like the SR has.
The only thing I don't like is that horribly yellow sight. Couldn't it be made a bit more transparent or transparent instead. Change the dot to "red" and make it transparent. The yellow makes it really hard to see stuff depending on the background. |

Currently now the range is the only issue I see with the SCR. The Assault variant optimal range is around 40-45 meters while the effective range only stretches out to about 65 meters. This puts anyone with and AR, let alone the TacAR at a huge advantage. The "normal" SCR optimal range seems to be at about 50 meters while the effective range stretches to maybe 70-75 meters.
In comparison to the AR, the range mechanics are pitiful while the fact that it does appear to have a wider dispersion than even the ARs. |

As for the sight, I couldn't agree more. There needs to be a higher contrast color given to the dot for aiming, as the current yellow one can easily be lost int eh environment. |

The current weapon passive for the Scrambler doesn't do anything for the Assault version. Are there any other weapons in the game where the passive becomes useless on certain variants?
I'd prefer a heat-build-up reduction, like the Amarr gets I guess. |

The scrambler rifles seem the most balanced out of all the weapons, and it's pretty much the only weapon that really benefits from it's racial suit bonus [5% reduction to heat build up]. Plus it kind of fills the role of a tactical assault, as it is right now.
+1 and a quote, good sir.
Or, as an alternative to simply removing the tactical assault, at least decrease the damage a touch so it fits in line with the hybrid rails of EVE. In EVE, the blasters are more close/mid range, with good DPS, while rails are longer range with worse DPS. So: Assault rifle = blaster Tactical assault rifle = rail

This is actually not a bad idea at all !! The AR was always meant to be closer range but a lot of damage to both armor and shield. As i understand the SCR it's meant to be eating shields (as it is ) but weak against armor and have more range than the AR's. Sooo the tac AR really just kills the foundation of the AR being closer range, and as a lot have stated it really doesn't have any drawbacks. Removing the tac AR might be a pain in side for some guys but look at a gun like the burst AR to. If you can hit with all 3 bullets it does more damage than the tac AR, AR users won't be left with no more choices. They will actually still have more choices than the SCR users have. As far as i know SCR users have the semi fire charge version and the assault fullly auto version. The AR users without the tac AR will have burst AR, breach AR and standard fully auto AR. soooo CCP Far Fall wrote:say now that we have the scrambler rifle we should take out tactical assault rifles.
On own note going up against a heavy. I eat away his shield making me laugh, starts chewing into his armor and suddenly it feels like this gun just stopped working. SO balance = DONE !!! it's perfect at is job and baaad outside it |

I love the scrambler rifle for one reason, and one reason alone.A proper red dot sight.Something that is still missing from the Gallente ARs that we've been running.
Tonight,I have had the best night EVER(seriously,no hyperbole) playing Dust, and that's mostly do to the SR.
EDIT:
I'm using the Assault SR,having used the tactical ones yet. |
