seriously? It recieves the bonus. He is speaking in future tense, since the OP was asking if he gets it, will it benefit from the Amarr assault suit's bonus.

energy weapons (laser) do em and thermal
hybrid(plasma and rail) do thermal and kinetic
Projectile do kinetic and 1-2 other types, often explosive.
Missiles can do any type, but only one at a time.
Hybrid weapons fire plasma or slugs at extremely high speeds by magnetic acceleration.
Pulse and electro-lasers are lasers but do their damage by causing plasma to form with laser.
Current are
EM: flux grenade
laser: scrambler rifle and pistol, and laser rifle
hybrid: plasma cannon, ar, shotgun, sniper, forge, blaster, rail.
Projectile: smg and hmg
explosive: mass driver, flaylock, swarm, locus grenade, av grenade, re, proxy mine.
It would be nice if info screen showed damage vs shield and armour(or amount em/th/kin/exp if game uses this in background), weapon category, and range of weapon.
