I give up with the Caldai Logi suit, no because i worrying about the nerf, but because the early ones are rubbish, and the normal Assault suit is much, much better. Only the Pro-logi one, give you a "small" advantage. But the Pro Assault suit is considerably all around better.
I played both logi and assault in Chromosome and was supposed to go Caldari Logi this build but couldnt let go of the sidearm so I stuck it out with the basic medium frame.
Here's what went through my head when I wanted to go Proto Racial Caldari Logi
1) It had 5 Highs and 4 lows (1 slot more than the Gallente and Minmatar)
2) I can shield tank with the racial bonus and skills which would give me over 600+ shields and have enough CPU/PG for other low modules
3) I basically get a free Complex Armor Repair due to the Logi Bonus without using a slot
4) CPU/PG problems? With full Engineering, Electronics and Core Upgrades you get a nice 507 CPU and 91 PG --- still not enough? I've got 4 low slots to put CPU/PG module if need be.
5) 4 low slots --- I can either Armor tank/Speed tank or both and fit shield rechargers in there as well (or was it regulator i forget)
6) My sprint speed if I choose to speed tank can overcome a scouts if I put 2-3 complex kin cats in there.
7) id still have room for equipment which I have 3 of.
Now, before you go saying it's only caldari ---- yes it is the best dropsuit for all-around. Gallente and Minmatar doesnt have that much slots as Caldari but it is damn close to its efficiency depending on how you want to build your merc.
Now, let's compare it to the Assault Racial Suit (regardless of which race):
1) Assault bonus is 25% recharge rate which is basically the amount of shields you get per tick --- Is it good? Maybe for Caldari with bigger shield tanking but not for ALL suits. Honestly, as a caldari user --- its meh at best for me. Id rather have the Armor repair so I can ditch my complex one for some other module
2) Racial bonuses of all assault --- laughable only Gallente really has some meat into it due to the fact that that most skills which deduct cpu/pg usage were taken out.
3) The rest are already discussed by how logi's are more well-rounded and superior to the Assaults
Only good thing about Assaults? is the Sidearm --- Amarr Logi has it though.
So, what's the best way to fix this without really nerfing logis?
I dont have a clear cut solution but my contribution to this conundrum is this:
Switch out the Assault slots with the Logi slots.
Assault with more slots would be limited due to their base CPU / PG, while Logis with so much extra CPU/PG can still maintain their Proto weapons but will be forced to actually invest in better ADV/PROTO gear.
Logis who want to be combat viable can still be while maintaining their support (equipment) role but will be limited in terms of their tanking (shield/armor) capabilities due to their limited slots.
The issue really is about how Logisitics can do a better job than the Assaults AND Scouts. If CCP wants a semi-role specific with the ability to be versatile, they need to balance the suits out that there is some limitation if they want to veer away from their "intended" role.
