So as we all know, there's been a massive spike of Caldari Logistics suit fitted with several shield extenders and the Tactical Assault Rifle have been tearing things up on the battlefield. In case if you haven't seen what I'm talking about here's an example of the fitting in action. As you can clearly see, the Caldari suit's racial bonuses paired with the flexibility of the CaLogi suit has given birth to a fitting much tankier than an assault of any class, second only to the heavy in sustained combat longevity. What we have here is the current fit of the month (FotM for short) and the first step towards a cyclic meta game.
Though efficient, this "killer bee" fitting has already stung most of us, but there is hope coming in a few hours when server downtime ends. I give you, the scrambler rifle, an Amaar EM weapon specifically designed to melt shields. Once this new asset takes the field, I strongly believe that we'll be seeing less and less of the "killer bee" fittings in the passing days until the only thing that it stings is a downed ally with a nanite injector, the only thing it buzzes will be its repair tool, and the only thing it pollinates is ammunition reserves with a nanohive. Natural selection shall run its course and the killer bee shall go extinct. Now to the point at hand.
With new weapons added in for Dust 514's release, the cyclic meta game must continue. A new FotM must take the place of the "killer bee." What I propose is that we discuss fitting ideas for what the new fitting/weapon shall become the new dominant force to be reckoned with... until its effective counter topples it from its throne of course. So what will it be? Gallente Assault with a Scrambler Rifle/Flaylock combo? Templar with an HMG and flux grenades, or will the tried and true Caldari Assault rise to the occasion again? What do you think? |

I just drove through a squad and hit their yellow logi in my BPO Gurista saga.
I felt like that was a wicked burn on my part.

Being better in CQC doesn't encompass the balance problems with the TAR.
The TAR is extremely lethal at all but the most extreme ranges. |

No it doesn't it's still extremely effective. It's never been #1 at point blank. Shotgun holds that candle... again, the problem is it's extreme damage at all ranges with no shortcomings. |

I don't think we'll have to worry about the TAR much longer anyway, the nerf bat is going to come down. That thing is almost as bad as the Viziam with 4x CDMs and SS proficiency 5. |

it is not supposed to be better than LR at LR optimal range and it is not supposed to be better than the regular AR at AR range. it is supposed to have more range and nothing more but this is not the case that is why it is OP. after all it deals as much damage per shot as a tactical sniper rifle if you add skills bonus and damage mods to it. |

The flaylock, I dont think it will need to be nerfed, its a tough weapon to use, but it is satisfying.
The plasma cannon. I have no clue if it will be any good. |

I'm a Caldari logibro who's gonna use the SR. I won't change my role and my favorite race suit just because SR begin to kill me more, become OP, etc.
I think FotM will be Amarr assault with the SR and flaylock. The suit will mean that SR can fire more till overheat for the extra hit. Equal shields and armor means no real weaknesses vs SR/flaylock combo. Shield extenders and plates with armor repairer. |

The plasma cannon. I have no clue if it will be any good. It's going to be funny to see all the threads of people QQing for the Flaylock to be nerfed. I'll be QQing for my MD to be buffed though.
Anyway, I'm not sure about the plasma cannon either. It's only got one "charge" from what I've seen and it looks really awkward to aim since it arcs. And this is coming from a MD user since chrome saying something is awkward to use. |

Perhaps you will still see the suit, but it will be used as designed...with gear in the rear supporting the team. with the 4 low spots, it is very easy to stack armor plates, so how is this the death of the caldari logi? |

Out of all the assault suits, I think the Amarr actually has the best bonuses that outshine it's racial logistics. Minmatar is good too once we get the flaylock and tech3 weapons. |

SR is a shield wepon, it does no more dmg than a flux backed by any AR. I only skilled into the SR to do videos for people that want to see it. It is just my opinion, but I feel that the caldari logi will be ok vs the SR as long as you give yourself some padding. with 2 advanced armor plates i have 300 armor, and it is fast enough to follow the pack for the most part. |

All the CoD-convert kiddies who run that fit are going to go crying to the GM's for a respec 2 days after patch goes live, once scrambler rifles make their fits completley useless.
Prediction: New FoTM = Gallente/Amarr suits, Heavy armor, Scrambler rifles
New counter FoTM = Proto Flaylocks.
I see what you did there, CCP... Well played.. |

Sigh, misuse of the metagame again. There is a thing called perfect imbalance. This is not perfectly imbalanced, this is just imbalanced.
If its far superior to ANYTHING else, and it takes a specific weapon which in case you didn't know, only does 10% extra to shields, then its bad.

Been running this since uprising. Depending on how good the SR is will determine whether going Amarr was a mistake or not. Either way its a versatile suit. Got over 1m SP banked for the new weapons as well.
This is why I think the SR will be better than other AR's in a typical fight.
The goal is to deplete the enemy's armor. Since it repairs much slower than a shield regens you want to do this often, preferably everytime you shoot someone. But first you need to get through that pesky shield..
So current theory; if you're tearing through the shield then you start hitting that armor quicker, and then be chipping away at it everytime you've got a shot on target. It's the same as using EM ammo in Eve.
Of course this all goes out the window if the TAC AR just does significantly more base dmg than everything else. IMO it's damage was fine last build, if you had good aim you would get kills beyond the normal AR range and can even win 1v1 at closer range but it took skill.
I'm hoping it gets rebalanced in tonights patch. Along with the control scheme being fixed back to Chromosone playability. |
