I haven't tried it this build but it was pretty effective previously, I enjoyed it.
One thing I learnt though is that the Squad Leader should always be Support, whilst the other tank pushes up ahead. Because Spider Tanking doesn't pay out much for the Support Tanker, I've found that having the Squad Leader be support and get points off my kills is very helpful to them as they get rewarded slightly.
With the 6 man squads it must be much more viable as you can move as a convoy and deploy 4 Infantry when needed. |

With the 6 man squads it must be much more viable as you can move as a convoy and deploy 4 Infantry when needed. I've been playing around with LAVs on an alt and found this to be quite effective, even with a Methana/Saga using a repair tool/shield transporter and MLT LAVs of the same tanking type. LAVs have been buffed up enough to being more than just mobile trashcans and the MLT turrets are powerful enough to almost warrant a nerf. Try it with a tightly packed 2-1 formation where the "slayer" LAVs are leading the charge. Very effective and gratifying at the same time, especially in a map where HAV are at a disadvantage. We only wiped because I got beached on the terrain and couldn't recover in enough time to avoid a well placed forge gun blast to the chassis. It almost makes me wonder if LAVs being perquisite for HAV was designed for the sake of incentive instead of being an SP sink.
LAVs are just good :D Called in 3 Caldari LLAVs and gave them to my squad mates, poor enemy team. |

and we just spidered each other, if someone was taking damage we repped them and if it was on cooldown we just positioned to block los to them
they couldnt do much to us by try to orbital us I'm beginning to wonder if the vehicle nerf was to encourage tactics like this. Usually it's pretty rare to see vehicles actually working together on this level. CCP, you magnificent bastards...
Spider Tanking is beast man, even before the nerfs, they were pretty effective but not many people can run effective squads utilising it, most Spider Tank squads consist of two Tanks, though I managed to have four rolling around together (All funded by myself) which was hilarious.
Another tip, Light Shield Transporter heals as much as a Heavy Shield Booster at a fraction of the PG/CPU. |
