The reason is that most people who play an mmo cant wait half a year for a new build or conntent or atleast i think that is how console mmo players feel atleast. Console players want something new something fresh, they cant possibly play the same build for six months. Having a 2-3 month build keeps them entertained. Also it allows you the devs to get kore stuff out at a faster time , instead of the big big 6-12 month builds with everything in it these 2-3 month builds will be smaller with lesser content out but its faster and faster is good, so please devs consider this it |

Yeah I agree, I want you to rush your work and give me for free stuff faster and more often! /sarcasm
Also it costs CCP money each time to submit a patch to Sony, so it is more cost effective to have fewer but larger updates. |

Actually I don't think they would have that much less content. At one point Iron Wolf Saber revealed that Uprising really only took three months. The rest of the time since the last build was spent transferring the game to tranquility which was a one time thing.
But yeah, more stuff more quickly! |

I don't think they can magically just push a button and make more content. If you get bored, wait and come back when new content is released. You'll have a bunch of passive SP waiting for you too! |

I rather want them to focus and make sure all new stuff works really well before releasing it...if that takes 6-12mo instead of half that time, so be it. Also, planetary combat will keep people busy. I don't think non-EVE players realise what a driver politics are in this game.
Soon you'll be too angry at "Corp XYZ" for "stealing your district" that you forget about some new weapon being added in a few months. Politics and intrigue will drive this game...not some "fluff" content like WoW does. At least if you look at it on a long term basis. |

you also have to look at at in a way of will you even be able to skill into it by the time the next update comes out? even if CCP gives us more stuff every 2-3 months we wont be able to skill into all of it. i recently started to play eve for a bit and was mind fu***** by the amount of skills there are. even now after the may 6th update it is hard to figure what to spend skill points on. besides people are going to be planning out how to conquer planets and what not so giving us to much ice cream will only give us a brain freeze. also if they give us 3 new vehicles 3 new weapons and 3 new suits that's going to be maybe 4 mill in sp, and that takes a lot longer then 2-3 months of gameplay for the average player. |

i rather like the patches being yearly/bi-yearly. gives me time to play with my fav stuff, then look at what's being brought to the table.
plus, gives CCP time to fully improve, flesh out, and test some of the ideas, because lets face it, they have to work within the constraints of their own game universe of EVE, and what they can microscale from that to us here in DUST.... time intensive process there.
and having to do it so sparsely can be good for money cause someone stated above that it costs money do submit a patch.... sooooo business sense kicks in there.

CCP said at Fanfest that they use Scrum, meaning if all goes well; release (or more formally a tangible artifact/progress) every 3-4 months. My theory is that the time between Chromosome and Uprising was extra long because they delayed releasing Uprising until after Fanfest. Because if not they wouldn't have had much to show. |

Yes, they've never said 6-12 months, nor have they delivered as slowly as 12 months. They have said 3-6 months. I think they'll stick to 3-6 months for a while, and eventually this will become an expansion every 6 months, just like Eve. |
