KING CHECKMATE wrote:AS ALWAYS. The TAC AR is FINE. It just needs a CQC NERF.
It has more range than regular AR.It hits harder. It can shoot faster.Ok i can deal with these.
BUT: Its way too good up close....
I agree it is fine. But how would you nerf CQC sensibly?
On a side note, the only thing I dislike ATM is that TAR has more range than a laser rifle. Also, I could live with the TAR being renamed, reskinned, and grouped with snipers for skill allocation. Maybe call it an Assault Sniper Rifle. |

DECREASED RANGE!!! The tactical and burst rifles are marksman weapons. They would be completely pointless with decreased range. I really wish I understood your reasoning behind saying something so ridiculous. Kick I can understand. Powerful weapons like this should have a lot of kick. Range stays.
Also, in regards to your original post, weapon mods have stacking penalties. No one is going to use five. Its a waste of isk. |

You only have a couple choices for long range weapons, and the TAR is most versatile of the three. Scrambler rifles are coming and will provide a new counter. And lets not even talk about how SP and skills massively buff your weapon over time.
If ZDub, the rest of PFBHz and IMPs all go corp battle and really test it out as it's meant to be played, and then provide feedback that it's OP, I'd be more inclined to believe it. Feedback from pubstomps is practically useless. Appeal to authority? I agree that the lack of counters is probably the main reason for it's current dominance but looking at any killfeed right now suggests to me that some kind of action ought to be taken if the scrambler fails to change things up. Also this gun deviates a little too much from it's brethren in terms of niche if you ask me. It's still supposed to be the shortest range gun in it's class.
I think it's a stop-gap until the Caldari assault rifles are added. It looks like it's trying to plug that middle-long range gap. Something Galantee guns (What our ARs are now) are not supposed to do. In the EVE universe Galennete guns are VERY short range, which our ARs to match up to, but the Tac-AR feels very Caldari and... well wrong. |

hard cap the ROF to 1/3 to 1/2 the standard variants, and possibly reducing capacity.

My problem is that an AR variant can out range a laser. Give the Tac AR it's own skill tree under the Caldari Gauss Rifle and I'll be fine with it, provided the rof is hard capped. I run the Tac AR on an alt, and I can say it's a fun little weapon. My biggest complaint (aside from the crazy high rof people can get) is that it makes the AR a 2 for 1 skill. |
