With all of the talk about balancing the Logi Suits, I had a thought. Why not task each piece of equipment and only allow certain dropsuits to equip them?
Assault: Nanite Injectors. Heavy: None. Logistics: No restrictions, blanket reduction in fitting requirements for all equipment. Scouts: Active Scanners, Drop Uplinks, Proximity Explosives, Remote Explosives
This way, Logis become required for certain items such as Repair Tools and Nanohives. If Assaults are restricted to Nanite Injectors, they can keep people on the front line on their feet, though will require a Logi's assistance to keep them operating at full potential.
Give the Assaults a slight buff to EHP and tweak their racial bonuses to make them more Assaulty (built in damage mods would be a suggestion I would put forward) while tweaking the racial bonuses to Logi to give them more of a "support" role (as suggested above, a blanket reduction to equipment fitting requirements or focus each race towards particular equipment) |

I still think this is a good idea.
It would help customization within roles as well. |

I'd rather change bonuses and slot layouts to gently push them towards using a suit for its intended role, but ultimately leave the final fitting to the player. I don't like feeling restricted when making loadouts. |

I disagree because;
1- Takes away the ability to be versatile (like not letting assault suits have AV grenades) 2- Takes away of mix n' match customizability 3- Being assault or scout would be way to boring 4- Logi would be even more used |

wouldnt surprise me if the put in some hybrid suits later requiring both log spec and assault spec offing bonuses to that effect
frontline assault medic
2 equipment slots
obviously difrent slot layout can fit both sidearm and light weapon
logi spec skill bonus to repair tool rep amount 5% per lvl (example)
assault spec skill bonus to weapon clip capacity 5% per lvl (example)
racial suit skill bonus 5% to armor or shield regen amount per lvl (example)

CCP advertised the customization of dropsuits in many of its early ads, trailers, etc. Restricting Equipment would not only lead to unhappiness among the players who are used to the freedom, but would also take away a focus of this game's skill system and customization. |

IDK, I don't think this idea is the end-all, be-all of fixing the problem. I just think it would be a step in the right direction if applied with other fixes.
Customization is a good thing, though I feel that it is secondary to establishing roles and should be done within them.
People go on and on about how Dust is all about customization, then they ***** when people take that customization and turn a logi suit into an uber-assault suit. I think that ideas like this, where customization is allowed, though roles receive more priority are the way to fix the problems. |

No Restrictions.
You Could be a Heavy Sniper, or a Scout AV. Its Freeform play Designed Class Making.
This Would Basically Put a Big Kitten Hole In that Plan.

Then in the name of "No Restrictions", I hope everyone finds the most broken as can be fits and uses nothing but them until this community dwindles to a couple of hundred "No Restrictions" hold outs.
Customization within Roles where there is room for growth within a fleshed out gameworld (that doesn't have horribly broken mechanics) is much more preferable to "No Restrictions" where we all run the same unrestricted cookie cutter fits in the name of "No Restrictions".
I am not really surprised at the state of the game currently (or all of the doomsaying), I'm really starting to think that a good deal of the current playerbase just want something free-to-play while they help gut it. |

This would be a in EVE that ONLY Intercepters could fit Warp Jammers.
And ONLY the ORE Ships can Fit Salvagers.
And ONLY Logi Cruisers can fit RARs or Shield Transporters.
And ONLY The Kestrel can fit Rocket Launchers.
And ONLY Gallente Can fit Blasters
I'm Not Against having Restrictions on Certain things, but saying that you can only Fit Good Equipment on Logis is Outrageous and Basically saying, "If you want to be able to have More then 1 Fit with differing Weapons, then Go Logi."
So for the Assault Class, You can't have the Saboteur, or the Light Heavy Support, or the Self Sufficient Assault Class
And The Scout Couldn't Ninja Rep Heavys, or Ninja Revive
ONLY The Logis will be able to Do anything that, and it will create the Same problem we are having now, Logis being the Most Used Class. |

Personally, I'd view it more like Covert Ops/Recon ships can fit Covert Ops Cloaks. Only Battleships can fit MJD. If it were done similar to this, I personally feel it would work.
Logi are supposed to play a Support Role (something only really vaguely defined and horribly abused), they should be the most versatile dropsuit in regards to equipment. |

Instead of openly saying you CANNOT use these weapons or equipment with these suits I'd say just add a PG/CPU penalty for using certain items with certain suits, ya you can use it but that's all your using. |

It lets those who Want to Have REs on their Assault, have REs, but at a Cost of Fitting Resources |
