All of us who have been around since the open beta or longer were given ISK for all gear that wasn't considered "rare". This has given us a very nice padding in ISK that new players could really benefit from. Most of the skill books are uber exspensive for a newberry.
Honestly almost ALL of my ISK has come from the salvage dump last week ~ at least 70%. Being able to sell off salvage would really assists new mercs and us vets. I may have 35 million right now roughly and that is only from a casual player with about 4 million SP.
It would have taken me forever to acumulate that much ISK if we didn't get to offload all our salvage.
I started a new toon just to see what it was like. Other than getting pwned by squads running TAC variants, the ISK investment required could be a big turn off for new players. Getting some cool looking gear after getting stomped on and then being able to sell it to aford skill books would offer newberries some hope IMO.
I enjoy the game and understand for me to continue to enjoy it we are going to have to "keep" players. As it stands now this game is about as unfriendly as it can get towards fresh mercs. |

i dont say this lightly but all characters shud be reset.
if i helped think up Monopoly, id get paid. i however would not get to start every game with board walk and park place. noone wud play Monopoly. word wud get around that monopoly was occasionally fun but for the most part rigged.
i got almost 11 mil SP. thus wud suck for me but in the long run id get back there.
id rather see this game flourish. an influx of new players wud be great. they may even stick around if they have a fighting chance.
another alternative is give starting players like 5 mil orso sp. uv already got it set up to take months for a pathetic amount of character progression. give the new dust bunnies a carrot. if they like them u can sell them better carrots. the old guys arent going anywhere theyre hooked already.
i think pple who disagree would chose the lesser of two evils. maybe not
u cant please everyone but u shud try to please prospective costomers. the second option would result in less crying all around. |

LOL people had since open Beta (actually, if they paid, pre-open) to start playing. It's their damn fault. How about a year from now when I have 50m+ SP with billions of ISK? Then what? New players get 25m? Hell no? Just because their new, doesn't mean they get babied.
BACK ON TOPIC A secondary market is being built now; expect this SOONtm.

As a new player (just passed 1M sp) i'm not finding isk to be in short supply. I currently have over 4M in the bank. For new players you have to remember we can't really fit anything expensive. Heck, we can't really fit anything period . My standard fit that i've been running costs only 3.5k. You could die 20 times in a match and still bank 100k isk with fits like that.
I just got my first advanced item, and that fit is sitting around 16k. So 10 deaths and you're still breaking even.
Now i'm not sure how much vehicle books cost, i don't have the sp to even look at those yet. I'm also not sure about the advanced dropsuit books, those are still a ways off, but at least for the basic fits we seem to be getting enough isk to pay the bills and then some. |
