I've spent a little money on Dust so far. I buy merc packs then use the AUR to purchase more boosters. Now those purchases don't end up on even AUR amounts so I tend to have a little laying around. I could see myself purchasing some cosmetic items from time to time although more likely if it is actually camo. I don't see myself purchasing AUR equipment or vanity items for my prison cell however.
I do like the idea of gambling on matches with AUR although that brings legal issues. To participate in competition in Magic The Gathering Online I had to prove to WoTC that I was over 18 and didn't live in a blacklisted state since those competitions were essentially gambling. I assume CCP would also have to solicit similar affidavits from us to allow a feature like that. Would be damn cool though. |

The purpose of this thread is to give CCP a resource to look at to see what kind of monetization options they could explore that the community would want to see, and things they would pay for that wouldn't be obtrusive to the game as a whole.
For example : Someone could suggest advertising their corporation on the Merc Quarters TV for all players, as something one could buy with aurum. (Props to Zionshad for that idea on podside, ages ago)
As you might know, the CPM has been talking to CCP about a ton of subjects lately. Aurum is one of those things that is definitely a 'hot button' issue and has definitely been so since day 1. In cases of things like this, we as a CPM would much prefer to have a thread we can say to CCP "Hey, look at what people are saying in this thread"
We don't want to cut you guys out of the process, in fact the opposite is very much true. So, when the topic of monetization came up the natural decision was to see what you guys think and ways CCP could move forward with this in ways that make all of us say "SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY" without the resentment of P2W arguments or people feeling like they didn't get a good deal.
So, throw out your ideas folks!
Sweet.... let's give CCP more ways to farm us?

Penny-pinching thread tbh
I want to give CCP more ways to make money so I can spend less money on specific stuff :P
(IE: NO MORE OVERPRICED BOOSTERS) |

Your theory is based on the idea that as they add monetization they will in turn lower prices.
That's a poor theory given how badly they've behaved so far. |

Well, terribad console players keep crying for respecs every time they mash the wrong button. So it's not really EVE-like to offer it, but an Aurum based skill respec option? |

I saw no attempts to set boundaries, quite the contrary, it was about expanding them.

Snaps Tremor wrote:Aurum-to-ISK-bounty for other players. You put down a pot on a person and then each time someone kills them the killer gets a small cut of that pot. Obviously comes with some sort of in-game highlight to distinguish bountied players.
Everyone rages at everyone else in matches, so let the truly rage-filled pay cash money to make the guy who just rolled them become a battlefield pinata. So instead of a red-dot they show up as like a gold dot.
And people will want to target out that player for kills, to get some bounty.
Could be an AUR item "Bounty" and sold in markets for isk like other AUR things.
Would be pretty sweet |

Blatant rip from BF3 but fug it....
Racial AUR Dogtags Some nice artwork would need to go in here, think like the cog dogtags in Gears of War look pretty nifty. You don't get dogtags by default but can purchase them for 1 AUR each for arguments sake. They show on the death screen when you kill someone same as in BF3. You can purchase rarer ones or ones that do things, for example a "Don't fight us, join us" dogtag that has an embedded clan invitation that victims can view post battle and directly apply for a trial with your clan. The kicker being that people who kill you (or maybe only melee you) get your dogtag and can sell it for AUR on the market. |

I think this can be a great way to solve a few problems. First current booster purchaser tend to be the hardcore who want to get a lot of SP so they make their fits and stuff. But here is the thing eventually they hit a steady state where they are happy with their specialty. What do they do? A lot play on alts but have to maintain them which is fine. Most just become bitter because there is the ocean of content staring at them in the face they simply cant get to.
Better way
Create an augmentation (this way it can be sold on the secondary market when that drops). That allows for the respec this will keep the game fresh and prevent burnout for the bitter vets given the long SP roadmap. After 5-6mos of booster purchases this will get them to spend aurum to essentially play with new builds and try new thing its essentially like paying for a DLC pack you pay for the "dlc" and now you play as a tanker instead of an infantry(totally different gameplay experience=more login more fun before burnout in which case try something else now).
Morevover the spreadsheet guys who tend to want to test builds this will be a great way for them to test multiple builds that they just might be willing to spend Aur on and then report those findings to their corpmates or the community as a whole.
Limited use(maybe), dont want p2w creeps saying that ppl are literally paying between each match to adjust to team comps in PC. Also price point if you make it high it will make using the option something to consider and thus limit its use which is good gameplay wise dont want people constantly respeccing(or do we? Whats the real harm in it?) But it will be less of a income generator for CCP. |

I would like to see AUR BPC, you pay the AUR you can infinite run the item until the timer expires.
Alternate AUR Boosters. I think the ones we have now are generic, expensive and lame. I don't get to play much and so each of the boosters seem like a huge waste for me. I want to see cheap boosters which can be bought in bulk which have different short duration effects
(These are just examples)
Assault Booster: +200-400% SP from kills, last until you die. Can be slotted in battle.
Scout Booster: +100-200% SP from captures, until you die. Can be slotted in battle.
Combat Stim: +50% SP for 1 match
Excellence Booster: Passive Booster which last X (Short) time and gives you bonus SP based on recent performance. [Having a hot streak? Buy a Excellence Booster and Profit!]
Role Specific Booster: Boost SP as long as wearing a certain suit or getting kills with a certain weapon. Devs can use it to mass test new items by offering crazy boost to encourage people to temporarily use an item.
The feeling here is that it would be more like slotting quarters into a arcade game rather then some expensive thing. We all know that as long as the cost is very minimal the mind will say "Meh, I can afford it" and then you end up dumping alot more then you expected to.
[Edit]: Oh yea and each of these can be slotted in a stack, like the match booster, you can buy 10 and slot them and it will last for 10 matches. |
