Salutations!
The purpose of this thread is to give CCP a resource to look at to see what kind of monetization options they could explore that the community would want to see, and things they would pay for that wouldn't be obtrusive to the game as a whole.
For example : Someone could suggest advertising their corporation on the Merc Quarters TV for all players, as something one could buy with aurum. (Props to Zionshad for that idea on podside, ages ago)
As you might know, the CPM has been talking to CCP about a ton of subjects lately. Aurum is one of those things that is definitely a 'hot button' issue and has definitely been so since day 1. In cases of things like this, we as a CPM would much prefer to have a thread we can say to CCP "Hey, look at what people are saying in this thread"
We don't want to cut you guys out of the process, in fact the opposite is very much true. So, when the topic of monetization came up the natural decision was to see what you guys think and ways CCP could move forward with this in ways that make all of us say "SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY" without the resentment of P2W arguments or people feeling like they didn't get a good deal.
So, throw out your ideas folks! |

Add a vanity slot to dropsuits and make vanity BPC's, like custom shield effects (but nothing too outlandish like the AR making little kitty mews every shot). |

- Additional fitting slots.
- Free to join chat channels, one off charge to establish chat channels.
- Skills to increase max size of corp assets OR purchase additional space.
- Cosmetic accessories. I want a goddamned fake mustache stuck to the front of my helmet.
- Pointless animations. Like RUNESCAPE, yo. I want to be able to hit a button in the war room and bust out some gangnam style. SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY. LET ME DO THE THRILLER DANCE.

More booster slots and different types of boosters. (That's right, I want to stack boosters for speed only, I don't want to get more SP than anyone else, I just want to get it faster.) Offer the same BPOs for purchase individually via aurum instead of just the merc packs. |

This is a fantastic idea. Ccp takes a cut and it's a fantastic thing for players to log in even after capping to do. You could even scale it to squads and teams. |

In planetside 2 there are cosmetic weapon/armor camo kits you can buy, along with vanity variations, extra fins on your fighter, etc.
Things like that are usually cool and welcome.
Corp specific things would also be a fun direction they could go. Pimp out your warbarge ftw! |

Aurum-to-ISK-bounty for other players. You put down a pot on a person and then each time someone kills them the killer gets a small cut of that pot. Obviously comes with some sort of in-game highlight to distinguish bountied players.
Everyone rages at everyone else in matches, so let the truly rage-filled pay cash money to make the guy who just rolled them become a battlefield pinata. |

As a more general 'direction' post, obviously Aurum needs to be kept out of the essential structure of the game, even if that structure costs the company money to run (ie UVTs). That kind of base level organisational stuff needs to be deferred to optional features and used cleverly to limit features people would otherwise spam to oblivion with trash, like the ads on quarters monitor idea. |

1: Get rid of boosters. It is too tempting for CCP to built SP sinks into the game, in order to "encourage" players to spend $$$ to shorten their grind. Maybe replace them with a VIP status of sorts, with a one time, permanent, but modest, SP boost (like 1% ie: 1000 sp per 100k), for those who spend any money on the game.
2: Get rid of the current AUR-only items, in their entirety. Suggestion #6 will replace them with something better.
3: Limit all new accounts, going forward, to one character slot, with additional slots available for a modest fee.
4: Add a MASSIVE library of skins, paints, badges, etc, for all items and vehicles; all NPC races and factions within eve should be included (who doesn't want the Gurista badge emblazoned on their armor/the side of their HAV?). Allow corporations and alliances to upload their own custom emblems, as useable for their members equipment/vehicles. All for a fee.
5: Add a "custom skin" slot to the loadouts for suits and vehicles. Then, provide a regular flow of limited time offer custom skin BPOs. Nothing too outrageous, but things like a Matar Assault suit with a unique helmet/chest piece, a Gunnlogi with a Minmatar theme (spikes, and maybe a few welded panels, a flag, etc), or the same HAV with a Blood Raiders theme (imagine if Reavers from Firefly stole a Gunnlogi, with skulls, spikes, blood, etc). The "limited time offer" nature of such unique skins would certainly entice those who enjoy such things to spend some dough to add a personal touch to their vehicles. Once the window to buy is gone, the skin is relegated to the annals of history. Again, all for a fee.
6: If #2 suggestion is implemented, replace the deleted items with a variety of vanilla looking militia and tier 1, fully fit, non-customizable, BPO loadouts for the related suits and vehicles. Provide AUR variants using in-game items, so that any player can make the same loadout with ISK, and do not "cheat" to allow fits that wouldn't work. If balanced, their inclusion would provide a pre-made set of vehicles, suits, etc, which would have the advantage of not costing ISK to replace, but be limited by their lower tier, and "locked" nature. DO NOT allow customization like the current Starter-Fits, and most definitely DO NOT allow players to apply stuff bought in #4 or #5 to these locked BPO loadouts. Again, AUR only. |

Some of these ideas are pretty cool.
The idea of 'gambling aur' in tournaments intrigues me, but there's some concerns to go with that and it'd have to be something CCP is super careful.
@ Post above, Can you expand and clarify point 6 a bit?

Posted this on another thread, relevant here as well:
P2W is not a black-and-white issue in Dust's case. CCP has stated they have no intention to introduce AUR gear that's better than what can be achieved by grinding. So we are left with grinding for SP and ISK to get skills and gear. You are trading money for less time spent playing the game - essentially you are paying to not to have to play the game, but that's another discussion.
It's easier to take examples to absurd extremes to understand it better - bear with me.
Scenario 1: you get 1 SP and 1 AUR by spending a 100 euro. Alternatively, you get 1% SP booster lasting 1 day for your money. I doubt anyone would consider this P2W.
Scenario 2: you get 10m SP and 1m AUR by spending 1 EUR. Alternatively, you get a 10,000x SP booster for a year. Almost everyone would consider this P2W.
So I believe we agree that one game can be P2W due to the advantage given by spending rl money just on stuff which gives you faster access to gear, while another might not be, although it uses the exact same microtransaction model, just at a lower rate.
The question is: at which point between scenario 1 and 2 does a game become P2W?
Dust is somewhere between those extremes. I believe they have been successful thus far in avoiding a P2W badge slapped on them - and reading these forums very few people feel Dust is P2W in its current form. I don't.
But given the Omega booster, CCP has shown they have more aggressive methods for boosting - and this is only second week after launch. I guarantee CCP will push further and farther with boosters, making them more potent, longer-lasting, or cheaper, and introducing other ways to spend your rl money to gain an advantage in-game. It remains to be seen if and when the community starts feeling Dust is becoming P2W, and CCP has to back down.
I will be long gone before that, as my tolerance to P2W games is very low. |

I want to watch Netflix in my little clone prison cell. I get bored; there aren't any windows to look out of. But no, for real, let us watch something on those little tvs. Maybe live feed of battles. Whatever floats your boat.
I'd also like to see some mini-games, or some kind of diversion, in the MCC. Preferably the kind where I can throw objects into guys' faces when they follow me around.
I would also pay good AUR for a longer attention span, but I somehow doubt that's possible. >_> |

There were various cosmetic suit variants released for the "old 4" suit modules. Some snazzy versions for the current sets would be nice. Not all of us care about MAG. Some BPOs (skill requiring if necessary, std grade) of that caliber for different variants would be nice - especially with some unique paintjobs or faction references from the EVE universe. |

OP, can you update the original post with a listing of suggestions along with number of votes (likes) where possible?
My suggestions
1. FFA Tournaments - Skilled tournaments that requires AUR to enter. Different tournament types could be possible, for examples 'last man standing' or 'top 3 pays out'. You would also get the ISK from opponent dropsuits market value to sweeten the deal.
2. Customised Merc Quarters - Could contain things like a trophy case (to display in-game or PS3 Dust514 achievements), armour rack etc etc. A private vanity item I know, but if people in Second Life will fork out for that kind of thing it's likely Dust514 players will also.
3. War Barge Banners - Allow corps to display banners in the war barge before entering battle in pub matches. Possibly a good recruiting tool?
4. Custom MCC - An expensive one this I would think. Pay a lot of AUR for the privilege. During corp battles your MCCs will display your corp logo and chosen colour scheme. Major vanity item. Makes it all the more satisfying to destroy enemies MCC with their logo on it.
5. Insurance - Offer the ability to insure vehicles, and perhaps dropsuits. Say you're going into a tough corp battle where you suspect you're likely to lose more clones than usual. Spend some AUR to recoup a percentage of your ISK losses. 1,000 AUR pays back a maximum 5,000,000 ISK or something like that. The maths would need to be worked out and finely tuned to make sure people don't play frivolously but it's still worth their while to pay insurance and try to stay alive.
6. Hats - It worked for TF2. Why not us!? |

Thought of more:
7. Spectator Sport - For a low price allow us to watch corp battles in progress with a time delay to prevent exploitation (120~ seconds?). Big corp battles would attract a lot of attention and it would be good for the publicity of the game also I think.
8. Background Checks - Offer the ability to run background checks on game characters. Would be useful for vetting accounts and also assessing potential opponents. Things provided could include preferred weapon, known corporation memberships, basic stats like KD/R, activity graphs in the marketplace.
9. Concord Protected Data - Block background checks on your persona by bolstering your publicly available data with Concord level security. For a price of course... |

I would love a VIP membership thing.
15 dollars a month, get 1.5 Active and Passive Boosters on. At the moment, getting boosters amounts to buying a Merc pack and using them that way. Many, many people are willing to throw 15 dollars a month into a game they like. Hell, many games EXIST because of this concept. Buying a Merc pack for 20 bucks to get some a 30 Active and 12,000 surplace Aurum after a Passive Booster is bought. It is no longer a 15 dollar a month thing as it is a "I drop 60 dollars NOW for my 3 months."
How about a Lifetime Membership? 150 bucks (or more, whatever) permanent 1.5 boosters on both Active and Passive. It is an equal risk on the consumer and the producers. We give you $150 in the faith that you will continue to support your game and you accept that you may get slightly less out of a player than you were expecting. Would also make CCP more money because many people may go "Hmm, why not?" Jeez, LOTR:O did this and every single one of my friends who didn't do it have been kicking themselves for years.
Be well. |

I thought about doing that when making the post itself, but then decided against it.
I don't want to make it seem like I'm 'picking and choosing' which suggestions CCP should look at. I want them to actually read the thread and see people's own thoughts on them, not just read my own summaries. |

2) Personal preference. Perma-NPC corp allows me to 'float around' and play with every group, without diplomatic drama or concerns. Corporations can tell me their plans, ideas, etc. without having any fear of me using that information for personal benefit for my own group.
