One of the many changes that took place in Uprising was the change to classic Ambush. The Clone count was reduced from 80 to 50, I assume to ensure faster games. I would suggest that this be increased back to 80, for various reasons:
1. 80 Clones means the game lasts longer, meaning more SP. I was going from getting 3-4k per game to about 2.3-2.7k per match. Having to cap 190,400 a week means that more games are going to have to be played. Note that the reduced SP might also be because I am still trying to get use to all the changes.
2. 80 Clones helped matches feel so much more epic. The more times people spawning in meant that there were more times that a player could be engaged in combat.
3. 50 Clones means that having two or three good players or a superman over the other gives too much of an advantage. With 80 Clones, if someone went 15/0 or something like that, they would not necessarily give their team an undeniable advantage. I have had plenty of games where I would go 25ish/0 but their team was able to kill my teammates more than I was able to kill their, resulting in a loss. With 50 clones, one superman or 2-3 players having a good game can basically win the match. It becomes less about working together and more focused on Kill:Death.
4. OMS has 80 players, however the addition of CRU's and Supply Depots makes Logistics players less useful. No longer are they able to help their team by supplying ammo or safe drop locations because the SD or CRU does it for the team.
5. Shorter matches mean more time waiting to queue.
I know one of the differences with 50 people as opposed to 80 is that if the game is going absolutely miserably, the game will not take as long to start a new one but I wish it was still an option to have a Death Match with 80 Clones that was not OMS. Perhaps there could be Game Type and Game Length. So still the same but being able to choose between having 50 Clones or 80 Clones. Would also be cool to have a Skirmish that could be done quickly as the format is fun but the "we are going to lose but it is going to be a 15 minute ordeal" is lame. |
