But the Core Locus which has 7.2m radius and 600 damage is alright? The Core Locus does more than the best mass driver's direct impact damage with Boundless assault type splash radius. This is too much damage in too wide an area for the CQC type fights that the removal of sharpshooter has gifted us with.
CCP was right to nerf the mass driver, the splash radius would have been far too high in this build. Sniping from up top would be way to powerful, as would it be up close. The first thing that popped into my mind when they announced the removal of sharpshooter was that the MD would be rigged.
The Flux and Locus gernade (The AV being mostly neglected now for the power of the first two) have roughly the same range as before SS removal. That and their radius are clearly too strong for this build. They need to be nerfed at least in line with the MD nerf, if not significantly more.

The issue is the grenade indicator is worthless. MD needs a splash buff, even if it takes a dmg nerf to do it (look at the forge gun.) Grenades are ok. They need to fix the indicator. |

Furthermore I am going to say that this is one of the most pressing issues to fix of the build. They are so strong that it is hard to judge the other aspects of the game. Gernades dominate short range... Tac AR dominates long range. Not very exciting. |

Tbh, the only time I get killed by a grenade, is when I dont see the guy throw it, or he did a good job of cooking it. Fix the indicator, then working as intended.
*Also I dont have grenades skilled up yet so I haven't tried them myself. Maybe the Imps, Nyain San, and my ROFL alliance mates, who I play against regularly, suck at chucking 'nades... *shrugs* |

The blast radius is to small on mass driver now.
Splash damage nerf is fine, radius is needed for area affect role. Aiming between members of large group to make them scatter, not missing and getting kill anyway.
Small missile had same thing happen, to much splash damage. Nerf to damage and radius, it's under powered. few months latter radius is buffed.
Radius may not need to be as large as it was, but larger then it is now.
Hand grenades should have higher stats in both then the mass driver. I haven't had any issue with them this build yet. Even if hand grenades needed a nerf, it would be to drastic to lower them to mass driver stats. |

Aside from the useless sight, the mass driver was perfectly fine in chromosome. It wasn't broken and they fixed it for some reason. |

I don't want to have a combat game filled with "weapons" made of foam and waterballoon. Don't Nurf another freaking thing...

I bait and switched on the title.
This thread is really about gernades and not the mass driver. If I could have found a good example with the tac AR or logistics class, I would have. Read please. Gernades are too strong. |

+1 Increase radius, lower splash damage a little if need be and leave direct damage alone. Sounds liek a compromise to me. But lets be honest the MD wasn't OP. Maybe the thread OP was right in that it would be OP at the ranges we fight at in Uprising, but I would have rather tried and seen how it works rather than assume it will be of f the bat without empirical data |

Grenades are fine, they are not an issue. They work as intended and if you can get one to blow up at long range when it hits next to a guy then you are very skilled and I wish I was that good with them.
They DO NOT need a Nerf.

I probably get two thirds of my kills with core locus grenades, and I can officially say they are overpowered against lower level players. Against halfway decent players who are in proto gear, it will strip much of their shield but not kill them. That's about right for a top tier grenade.
Against lower level players a single core locus will instantly kill anyone within 5 meters of it. I've literally gotten 5 kills from a single grenade. |

It seems like people are mad that other people are actually skilled with a weapon so they scream NERF!!!
Anyway, grenades are fine. You just have to learn to expect them and account for them in your strategy. Sometimes I opt for a grenade over my primary because I know how to cook. I use them particularly in close range so if your theory on the splash being too much is shaky at best. |

You mean a heavy can still kill people?!?!?
The horror.
Stop trying to nerf everything...we had a huge idiotic nerf called uprising at it was a failure at every level that ended up not balancing the game and driving people away from the game.
If you can't handle it go back to EvE and play with your toy space ships. you can have your nerdgasisms over spread sheet there. |

As they mentioned in the recent dev post, playtesting of Uprising with all the changes it introduced showed a heavy bias towards Mass Driver exploitation. Without seeing that step it can seem to us like they just dipped into a stat file after too many glasses of wine, but that's really not how it works, despite the insistence of Dust's "CCP are incompetent here is my list of fixes based on half an hour of getting my tank blown up" forum warrior brigade. |

Yeah, I kinda figured that people would be resistant to nerfing something that they all have. Just trying to make a suggestion that will make the game less of a nade spam fest. For the doubters: You have a great number of core locus gernades waiting for you on the battlefield. Have fun trying to fight CQC.
I guess it isn't too big a deal if you are running TAC AR. |
