Alright,
When Uprising hit, I really felt like I knew what I was doing. I specced right into Minmatar Scout, Shotgun, and SMG, and I really didn't look back. After a few days. I'm beginning to hate this playstyle. The kills are rewarding, but it's incredibly frustrating being ripped to shreds by a few shots from a Dullove, or essentially any advanced+ weapon for that matter.
I'm not blaming the suit, I'm blaming my overall playstyle. I don't think I'm really cut out for strafing constantly and being a loner. After hearing the news that the 14th will bring a respec, (WOOO) I can be happy knowing I'll be able to take this Shotgun guy and turn him into something else.
..But what, exactly? This is the problem I am having.
I definitely want to pilot Jets in the future, that is something I am 100% certain of. But they're not out yet. And to be clear, definitely want to do it on this character, my main.
I want to get into SOMETHING that will let me do jets more easily in the coming months, and I need some kind of path to help guide me on that. Do you think it'd be possible to fly Dropships for a while, at least until Jets here? I hear awful things about them, and I'm wondering if there's ever even a real profit to be gained from them, as I'll definitely need to be amassing funds to buy a lot of Jet stuff.
At the same time, I don't want to go TOO far into Dropships, because I'm waiting for Jets. Does anybody have any ideas or skill suggestions for what I can do? I think I might upgrade my Dropsuit shields, skill a little bit into Plasma Cannon and Flaylock, and then just put all the rest into basic vehicle vehicle command and save up to go all out in Jets.
Does it sound doable? I won't have the best infantry equipment, but I think it should get me somewhere and allow me to maintain a steady income of both ISK and SP while I wait for my beloved LAA's to hit. |

One thing I will recommend is skilling back into the light frame but not the scout. Reason being is they are going to add a Pilot dropsuit specialization that will require Light Frame 5, so this is something you'll need eventually anyways and give you something to do on the ground without diverting skill points into something that won't benefit your final goal. One thing I will suggest is adding one enhanced or complex armor plate to this frame, it's almost a necessity. Don't worry about the speed penalty, it's not as bad as it sounds.
EDIT: Must of skimmed past the part where you said you only have 2.6 million skill points. In that case I say definitely focus on the light frame first which will eventually lead into your pilot suit. Jets aren't coming for awhile so you'll have plenty of time to rack up the skill points for them. I wouldn't suggest going heavy into dropships with your skill point level though because in their current state they are not a profitable role on the battlefield and you need to have an infantry fit to fund it. Fly some militia dropships around though until you get some more points.
Good info, thanks.
I think what I'll do is specialize into light frame, (up to 5, so I can use the Pilot suit when it hits,) then run a sort of AV Minmatar Light with basic Plasma Cannon skills and basic Flaylock Pistol. Does that sound like it'd be a decent role to hold me over until Pilot/Jets come out?
