Hi, iv been talking with some of my alliance friends about the state of this game and one of the subjects that came up was the match making system in dust514 at the moment, its trash. I really like this game (even though they killed the tank for me) and I don't want to see it become another COD game or want it to fail so im trying to figure out the best way I can to help this game become successful.
1- The Match Making System:
Problem: Right now I don't believe there is a system in place, the reason for that is that I see people joining pub matches and teams that are completely full of random players and they go against an entire team of well trained corporation squads and ultimately get their ***es kicked a.k.a "pub-stomped". and even if there is someone that has played for months it still wont make them knowledgeable of how to play this game well enough.
Solution: I believe that a Separation System is needed, say not make it based on your K/D R (which right now does not matter at all), but instead make it based on your core skill level (Level 1-5), have it like this:
Ambush, Skirmish, Ambush OMS-Militia- Only Militia items are allowed in this game mode, nothing standard level or higher (Most New player friendly game mode).
Ambush, Skirmish, Ambush OMS-Standard- Only allows Standard and Militia items, nothing advanced or higher (somewhat new player friendly but gives the players a feel of how hard the game can be and can teach them how to prepare when they finally get into the prototype styles).
Ambush, Skirmish, Ambush OMS-Advanced- Only allows Standard and Advanced items, nothing Prototype or Militia can be used (this is where players are really tested with their skills on how to use their equipment before they can go against prototype technology).
Ambush, Skirmish, Ambush OMS-Prototype- Only Prototype items are allowed to be used here, Nothing lower (this is where all the most advanced and highly skill players can fight and compete against each other).
There is are no restrictions on joining any of the matches, as long as you have the equipment allowed in the styles you can join in them, ex: I have the Prototype Gallente Assault suit "GK.0" but I wont be restricted to only being able to play in the Prototype matches, as long as I have useable equipment militia level and higher, I can join the other matches.
again this wont protect players from getting "pub-stomped" but it will require the players to actually develop skills with their preferred weapons to win while fighting with people that have the same type of equipment as you.
Please tell me what you all think, I thought about this for a few days but I finally came up with a solution I think is best. |

One of my corp mates also had and Idea which was to make matchmaking like in EVE for missions.
Where players select cotracts from NPCs. There contracts vary is ISK rewards and represent mercs picking out thier prefered clients through open channels then engaging in warfare for them. The contracts then corrispond to a single game of dust where prior to the fight you know how much ISK you will recieve and their for how much you want to invest to win.
Missions are broken into 5 tiers ranging from
Lvl 1- small scale fights between factions militias, therefore players can only wear Militia equipment because such faction groups dont want to escalate the region war price.
Lvl2- Would expand into basic equipment, being fights between merc privately contracted.
Lvl 3- Would expand into ADv gear respresenting more financial groups hiring you to high cost regions with expensive war prices.
Lvl 4-5 would be free for all with no special restrictions and perhaps rules like friendly fire etc.
To progress through the tiers one much complete a certain number of successful matches to boost their standing with a faction to the level where they can then select that factions next tier missions. This ties in with an EVE mechanic already and would be beneficial for EVE side groups to hire DUST corps that correspond with their factional preferences.
Basically as I see it we wouldnt see proto stomping of newer players because any vets who do want to fight would be forced into using militia and standard gear and also would be getting very little rewards for completing those missions when they could be fighting in Lvl 4-5 missions with good equipment and high rewards.
As for rewards SP would always remain a constant, however I've heard suggestions that new players recieve a special booster when starting the game to push them up to competitive SP values (no more than say 2 mill-2.5mill), while ISK rewards steadily increase from low Lvl 1 values to high Lvl 5 values to cover the gear types people will be using.
This also means that if ADV players are running out of money because they are trying to do Lvl 4 missions against proto suits they can drop back to the low risk tiers to boost their incomes. |

THEY ARE WORKING ON IT AS WE SPEAK
there will be matchmaking, militia players will not be going up against people in proto gear.
the game is about to get a lot easier and enjoyable for me and that's the only thing that matters. you don't play to prove a point to anyone you play to have fun! |
