* i joined an ambush OMS. i had an unknown number of fitting "laser/smg 89k" prior to match.
* approached supply depot. noted that it stated i had 7x "laser/smg 89k".
* switched to loadout "swarm 88k".
* activated supply depot and noted that it still said i had 7x "laser/smg 89k". note, in the last patch, the loadout i switched out of would increment, as if i had "put back" the suit. so it would have said 8x.
* got jacked up real bad by a madrugar.
* in the spawn screen, checked again there. still 7x "laser/smg 89k".
* spawned as "laser/smg 89k" (deliberately, as a test). approached supply depot. noted i had 6x "laser/smg 89k".
* switched to swarm, checked again, still 6x.
* got jacked up a couple more times. went home.
* checked loadouts. my laser/smg 89k outfits that i did not die in, are still gone.
this is unintentional, right? my thoughts:
- on a strategic level, i don't mind it. but the interface HAS to be changed to reflect the new danger of suit consumption. it's way too easy to accidentally destroy extremely expensive outfits. and this change is huge, it cannot be done this way, without community review. i'm assuming, though, it's unintentional.
- if it's unintentional, please change the supply depot interface so that it counts dropsuits including the one you are wearing. the main benefit is that right now, it behaves different whether you have spares of your current suit or you are wearing the last one. if you have at least one spare, you can take out the "fresh" one and put back the one you're wearing. but if you are wearing the very last one, you cannot refresh it because the count is at zero, and zero is red, and red is bad. i guess the supply depot administrator doesn't want to see you naked and you can't switch suits fast enough without a spare to cover up your bits in between the swap? you have to switch a different suit, then switch back. the whole suit refresh thing seems like a hack anyways. like someone said "hey, you know you can instantly switch to a suit with full health and full consumables including equipment in an instant, but if you just want to top off some ammo you have to stand around and wait for it to trickle in slowly?" ... "meh, let's just keep it that way". |

Yes, this is an important point.
Also, on a strategic level, I don't necessarily mind that you might consume a suit this way, though that would limit battlefield flexibility quite a bit. But, if it's going to consume suits, then it needs to resupply equipment just like ammo and grenades. |
