My number 1 best tip for anyone starting to play is to squad up. I'm still confused as to why so few squads get formed. (I know why no one wants to squad with ME, but am not sure why there is little squad play in general.)
If you don't want to follow orders, form your own squad and set your own objectives. You may find someone who plays like you do.
Very few times have I had a better game by myself than I did with a squad.

Just in case this is what is stopping someone from squadding...
Join Squad
Create Squad
1. Press Select and scroll to Squad
2. Pick an open slot in a squad
3. Join Squad
Once in game
1. Look for the rotating icon on the screen (this is the objective your squad commander has set.)
2. The guys in green are now your best friends.
Or
Create Squad
1. Press Select and scroll to Team
2. Create Squad
Once back in game
1. Press Down on D-Pad
2. Move the Cursor with your thumb button
3. Select Objective or location
4. Hold X and pick an order
Those orders are now available to your squad. The squad gets points for following those orders and you can earn an Orbital Strike.

I never knew that's where orbital strikes came from, but it took me about 5 seconds of play to figure out to join a squad. I've been playing for like a week, I have no idea how other people haven't figured this out. |

Lone wolfing isnt all that hard though, for the first 2 weeks i played i was a lone wolf and i rocked, if i do say so myself, but then i found a corp and a squad and now i do rock!

Here's what's stopping me from forming a squad when I don't have buddies on. Uplinks. They are supposed to work for the entire team, but only work for you squad, or if you are not in a squad they work for everyone else not in a squad. So if I am running uplinks it will help more people if I am not in a squad since most people aren't. Furthermore if someone else not in a squad in running uplinks and I join a squad I won't be able to use them. |
