I personally think having specific dropsuit skills for each specific race to be needlessly complicated, here's my idea on how to simplify it more.
-- Old -- Dropsuit Command:
- Gallente Light Frame -> Gallente Scout Frame
- Mimmitar Light Frame -> Mimmitar Scout Frame
- Gallente Medium Frame -> Gallente Assault -OR- Gallente Logistics
- Amarr Medium Frame -> Amarr Assault -OR- Amarr Logistics Frame
--- New --- Dropsuit Command:
- Light Frame -> Scout -OR- Pilot
- Medium Frame -> Assault -OR- Logistics
- Heavy Frame -> Sentinel -OR- Commando
Dropsuit Upgrades -> Racial Specialization
- Gallente Dropsuit Specialization
- Amarr Dropsuit Specialization
- Caldari Dropsuit Specialization
- Mimmitar Dropsuit Specialization
Vehicle Upgrades -> Racial Specialization (same as above)
-- What changed? -- I got rid of the racial requirement skill of dropsuits so that having skill in Medium Frame gives you access to all racial dropsuits of that level (having the Medium Frame skill gives you access to the Gallente, Mimmitar, Amarr, and Caldari dropsuits). This allows new players to have more options instead of being pigeonholed into a specific dropsuit right from the get-go.
The added Racial Specialization skill on both Dropsuits and Vehicles gives you bonuses on all dropsuits and vehicles of a specific race (varying by class of course, so having Specialization on vehicles will give LAVs a different bonus than HAVs or Dropships). This is just the racial role bonuses transferred into its own skills, except this skill encompasses all dropsuits. (ie. Having the Gallente Dropsuit Specialization skill gives you various bonuses across all Gallente Dropsuits)
I know there is mention of a War Room somewhere down the line where you can try before you buy, but I don't think that's good enough, I highly doubt that you can emulate full skillsets for you to try and access to the various modules in the Marketplace.
I think there should be a similar progression with vehicles as well.
(I don't think what I'm proposing is possible without a rebuild of the skill system, but you have a topic about progression regarding dropsuits so here it is.)
I want to know how you guys as well as the Devs think of this idea. |
