So here is the deal. Everything looks nice and shiny up close. CCP closes the engagement ranges for the guns including the sniper rifle so that fire fights are tighter more compact and closer. CCP's thinking is that when people are so far away they cant do damage to you and are not even rendered. That saves resources but hamstrings core gameplay. I would rather have rock solid 8v8 gameplay where guns shoot people and people are rendered versus pretty graphics and only people who are close to you are rendered with 16v16 battles where guns sometimes don't shoot people or you can walk outside of there range or where invisible unrendred people can take pot shots at you.
So what is it community? light flares and slightly more detailed shadows? or being able to shoot people at better ranges and having everyone visible at any given point in the battle. |

Enemies are still invisible guys, I don't think CCP will change it either since you know it saves 5 frames with there new lens flares. |

Hi,
Thank you for the feedback. I believe what you're experiencing is the side effect of an optimization we did in Uprising.
The optimization is about only simulating the characters within certain distance around your local player, which is a very common technique for games that have large maps. The view distance is partially tied to the weapon the player is using since for instance players using an assault rifle don't need to see as far as snipers.
I'll talk to the relevant devs about this. In the meantime, can you guys provide a list of weapons that are most annoying? QUOTE https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=74777

But seriously? The new Uprising look is sexy. I'd say this is what the game needed, now. However, if major improvements to the graphics don't happen in the future, now I won't be fussed. If we were stuck in pre-Uprising graphics for longer than this, I personally would've been feeling disappointed.
Yeah but invisible people can shoot you. |

Triple A games have to have good graphcis. Its a requirement. Gameplay usually starts fairly terrible, but gets better over time.
So for now I would prefer graphics over gameplay just because Graphics are harder to improve later whereas gameplay can be tweaked and memory leaks fixed.
yeah maybe if you don't take this game in a serious light and play this game like you play farmville or angry birds I can understand. But say if you play competitively for say money or something substantial and this happens: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=plfAoguqM0I you can see where my frustration would be to rage quit levels. |
