CCP Blam came on IRC and made an interesting suggestion. it was proposed to him that people who hang out in the safe zone that is considered redline by the other team simply be afflicted with a redline timer that will kill them that takes longer than the standard 20 sec. redline timer. if they last beyond this magical number they are terminated.
This works brilliantly for AFKers, but does nothing for redline sniping. Redline snipers will simply poke a toe outside the redline and reset the timer then merrily go back to redline plinking. It would have to be in excess of two minutes to account for the team getting organized and giving everyone a reasonable chance to get rolling to an objective. Unlucky heavies take about a minute and a half to trundle their donut-chasing fat asses out into the battlezone if no LAVs are available. It also creates a problem if the entire team is redlined and has no viable means of escape.
I propose if this method is adopted the redline camper timer only applies if there are available uplinks, spawn points or other means of entering the combat zone. the timers should terminate if there are none. if there are unclaimed spawn points then the timer remains in effect until the spawn point turns red.
all in all it's a good idea overall. AFKers are the bigger issue than redline snipers.
My alternate proposal is presented here for your critique.
I believe wasting the lives and chances of friendly teams so you can gain easy ISK/SP should be determined by the teammates you are not helping. Consequences in New Eden are traditionally enforced by the other players in New Eden. If they're cool with you being a redline stat padder or a AFK grease stain, then more power to them. if not they should have the tools to decide your fate, not an arbitrary godstrike.
I propose that after matches begin teams have three minutes to leave the redzone.
After that three minutes they have a three minute countdown redline timer. when this redline timer expires, the waste of bluedots are flagged red and can be teamkilled with impunity by their own team. Friendly fire enables. If the redliner leaves the red zone the team flag ends.
this timer does not reset. it pauses, and then restarts as soon as you re-enter the redline.
If there are no viable entries to the battlefield all timers end until a spawn that the ENTIRE TEAM can access goes blue. once that spawn point is blue the redline timer begins once again.
I hate you AFKers, and I want you to be booted from the matches.
I hate you redline snipers, because you contribute nothing useful to anyone except yourself and your KDR. i want to be able to see you lose your Thale sniper god guns because you won't leave redline.
Effort should be rewarded, aggression should be rewarded.
Lazy gameplay should be punished without warning or mercy. |

Your argument is irrelevant. For all I know either of these ideas could be coded in under three minutes.
They could take months.
But I'm presenting ideas, and I have no control over what order CCP addresses issues, so perhaps critiquing the ideas instead of getting :madbro: that I'm not extending the rage about the current uprising problems can be done?
it's not like the whole damn forums isn't wallpapered with the rest of that, so there's really no need for it here. the Devs can read, and if they choose to listen or not? Isn't relevant to this thread.

most people don't want a redline slaughter.
There should bluntly be a surrender option for redline trapping anyway.

the punishment is for redline snipers.
regular snipers can be rooted out and killed by line grunts.

these are methods so the redline sniper/AFKer can be dealt with in favor of their own team, whom they are not helping.
The redline sniper thing is not being presented as "Oh noes, I can't kill that punk becuz he redline!"
