I think the rest of the community has got "balance" covered, so I thought I'd go off and talk about a bit of less "Core" gameplay.
First off, love the new build. I'm not good at it yet, but I love it. While it is not possible to love every aspect of a game, I am enjoying it immensely.
So, the warbarge. I'm loving the fact that the planet outside the window is where I going to fight. It kicks up the immersion a lot. Some things to consider for the next iteration:
Out the window: The view out the window is very very cool. Here are some ideas to make it cooler.
Skybox: Every region has its own gorgeous skybox with cool nebula etc. It makes sense to show the right one for the planet we're orbiting.
District: I've noticed that the planet isn't always in the same spot. Are we orbiting directly above (ie centered in the view of the planet) the district we'll be fighting on? If so, can it be a little more obvious? If we're not centered on the district, can we be? That increases the immersion even more, as we'll be able to scope out the terrain a little from orbit. IE, this will be desert, or forest, or lowland.
Day/Night. As I understand it, the planets don't actually rotate, meaning a district on the dark side will always be on the dark side. The view from the warbarge is always noon, though, which kind of makes the planet look flat. If the light source was in the correct direction (ie the direction of the star), it would make the planets look much more alive, with the cityscapes and districts clearly visible on the nightside like they are in Eve. Plus, if we're over a night district, and then we drop and it's night down there too, the immersion is that much complete. Making the light source color match the star's color, or even rendering the star would be bonus items.
Flags: Get rid of them. We're mercs. We don't do flags. Plus I'm almost never fighting for Caldari.
Ideally, the view out the window of the warbarge should match what an Eve pilot sees when above the district, but at a higher altitude.
Useful stuff: The room is supposed to be a briefing room, right? Some tools that would make it a bit more useful:
Map Table: Let's see the map. Enough said.
Podium: A raised area where the team/squad commanders can stand to be seen while talking.
Eve District Grid overview: A simple list, resembling the overview in Eve Online, of pilots, corps, alliances, ship types, and ship names for all ships on the grid of the district satellite. As battles get bigger, it would be nice to know if our support is in position before we drop. Also if the enemy has backup, it's good to know ahead of time.
Obviously, these features aren't central to the gameplay, and I would be disappointed if they got a higher priority than core stuff, but equally, the warbarge could use some work, and shouldn't be forgotten. |

I don't know, it could be cool to see flags with the logo of whoever owns the warbarge |

For me every little enhancement like this goes a long way in helping with immersion, or more so every little overlooked aesthetic (Caldari flags?) goes even further in making the game feel bland. +1 |

I hope once we get Planetary Conquest, we see our allied EVE ships in orbit from the Warbage |

as any else noticed that all the planets in the war barge look exactly like earth?
only a different color....
any ways i think it would be nice to have more access in the war barge as in having a larger area to walk around in instead of being confined to that 1 area.
another cool feature would be having the ability to open those doors and walk out of our merc quarters. to other places |

That would be awesome! Seeing the real time nebulas and enemy ships. Oooohhhh love the idea of seeing the suns in different colors. Maybe even the moon/ moons of the planet too!
+1 from me :) |

This is my biggest gripe with the warbarge atm; but all your listed points are spot on.

I would personally like to see the Dust Lounge from PS Home turn into part of the war barge.
Preferably as a private corp lounge. |

I would love it if during FW or PC battles, you can see your friendly EVE ships from the Warbage during pre-game, you don't have to show every ship, just knowing they are there is awesome enough.
EDIT: and I realized I already responded to this thread, oh well, bump. |

That is because all of the planets that we are currently fighting on are all temperate planets. So they would technically all kind of look like Earth. |
