...and it seems 'intended.' If you watch your iron sights, preferably with a pistol (and its glowing sights) as you are strafing sideways, your gun barrels turns.
For example, if you strafe right, the center needle of the iron sight hugs the wall of the left side, causing your bullets to fire slightly off target.
It also appears as something they intended (why..?!), since I'd imagine you'd have to actually code something like this into the game. Either way, when you aren't strafing you'll notice that your sights remain perfectly centered. As far as I can tell, this is true of every weapon. I certainly haven't checked them all however.
This is ever so slight, but at 15+meters out even a 1 degree difference is a certain miss if you're actually aiming at someone's head. Since the apparent 'cure' for this presently is either stand still, or don't aim I've got no idea how to deal with the issue other than to fire in short bursts (which you should be doing anyway, IMO).
Or, I guess you could aim at the appropriate ear. I plan on running more 'tests' on this to see if aiming right while strafing right will correct the issue. As it stands it appears that the LESS accurate you are at headshotting people, the more headshots you'll land... assuming you're strafing of course. |

I NEVER miss while standing still. = )
At least with any of the weapons I use. I don't do it all that regularly though. Anyway, it's simply something I noticed, which I figured many didn't. It's what I'd imagine the issue is here. People can't... adapt I suppose. I certainly don't hate the mechanic. |

Cat Merc wrote:Congratulations, you got used to the aiming system of Dust. Now can you tell me why can't I do the same, when I managed to adjust to every FPS game on the market? Heck it only took me 5 minutes to get used to from a mouse to a controller. Perhaps the very tiny iron sight on the AR, combined with firing at range?
I can't recall being in a game with/against you so I can't offer much more than that. I'ts fairly straightforward aiming when you aren't moving. No bullet wander/ |
