Is it just me, or are Fused Locus Grenades the one item that breaks the balanced payment structure CCP has implemented? Any other pay to win item seems fine, there is an ISK alternative that maybe requires more skills or slightly higher fitting requirements.
But the fused locus grenade is an entirely different class of weapon, there is nothing else like it on the battlefield. It is an auto win button. With the new build, I've felt grenades in general are OP. The reduced speed of player movement and reduced range of guns means nades have a much more powerful role on the battle field. This may or may not need balancing, that is another topic, but it does help expose how OP fused nades are.
You have a nade that explodes on impact, can be thrown as soon as trouble comes your way, with no need to time it out, or to wait for it to blow. Pretty much you have nades that are always cooked "perfectly" with no risk of over-cooking and need no time to do so. It would be like if there was a pay to win forge gun with no charge time.
How is this acceptable? Look, I recognize CCP needs to fund the game. Hell I bought the merc pack to get into beta back in the day so I have 50 of the fused nades myself, but they obviously break the mold. Even if they were an ISK item, they would be way OP, but as a pay only weapon they scream pay to win. Not cool. |

I can't tell if you are trolling me. I suspect you are :) The duvalle is an ISK item. Its also just a slightly better AR than one you can use starting out for free. So that's an entirely different issue.
Even if there were "more powerful" pay to win items, that would suck, but it wouldnt be as crazy as the fused nade.
Its not just more powerful, its an entirely different class of weapon, with its own mechanics. No other weapon performs like it. And the only way to get access to it is to pay CCP money.
Look, if they want to go P2W, then whatever, they can, I dont blame them, need money somehow. But why just the one crazy OP item? Why not p2w tanks that are awesome, p2w forges with no charge time, p2w snipers with no sway? These items would be less broken than the fused locus grenade, honestly. |

The Duvalle AR? I think there is an AUR version that is teir 3, but there is a proto version that is ISK, and a tact version that costs like 70k isk.

You know OP is absolutely right - it's a P2W weapon...
Paylots to win little :D
$20 = 50 fused nades.
Right, but lets put those in the hands of a good player, who is running proto suits with a good corp and doesnt die much, and when he does, has someone revive him.
Those 50 nades could go a loooong way.
Look, I know we dont see them often. That's how the issue doesnt come up much. But you can't deny they are a powerful class of weapons that arent available via ISK. Which breaks the mold from the rest of the game and gives an advantage that can only be earned via paying money.
If they were cheap, we would see them more and people would be revolting. |
