It has been said many times before, but this is a team based game. Just like other Team based game. What it is *not* is a Solo Shooter like COD or many others in the same vein. It seems to me your problem comes from not liking Team Based games.
While this should not matter so much to you, being you have a corp behind you, any new player who does not have a corp, can do many things to increase their survivability and their teamwork, even when not running with an organised corp squad.
1. Turn on Team Chat. You don't *have* to have a mic for this, but it helps. If you have no headset, you will still hear team chat through your speakers. This can be vital for co-ordination, and general battlefield awareness. (No bloody excuses about UVT now, even if it wasn't valid for team chat before)
2. Run with Team Members. Don't just rambo off on your own, run with team mates and support the Team.
3. (Outside of Battle) If you do not have a Corp, and do not know anyone in game, open that little magical window on the side called "Chat". Check out your Local chat. Talk in there. Meet people. Post LFS (Looking for Squad) and look for people asking for squad members. (Looking for x and Room for x, LFx and RFx, x being a number or role ofc.)
However, if a person is truly a stubborn mule and wants this to be a Solo Shooter no matter how much the opposite is true, nothing short of an LAV to the back of the head (figuratively ofc) is going to change them, and no, CCP should not have to change their game to support a few stubborn mules. |

"That Majority" don't though. Yeah I get games with random rambos, as we all do. But I have plenty of games, many times, with organised people (not in same corp, not even squadded before match) that go well, there is good teamwork, good communication, and just an overall good game for both sides. I have also run with many a new player, and helped them to learn the ropes. It is something I enjoy doing.
But, from my perspective of what I have seen anyway, The Majority come into this game understanding it is a team based game, even if they aren't running with a team to start with. It is only a few Stubborn Mules who insist this should be a Solo Shooter to appease their appetite, when DUST is damn near as far away from a Solo Shooter as you can get.
It is an MMOFPS. Massively Multiplayer Online First Person Shooter. Set in a consistent, single-shard universe, where your actions matter and finding friends is pretty much essential. This is what DUST is, there is no two ways about that. If people come into the game completely misunderstanding what it is about, well they can either learn (the old Adapt or Die adage) or they can be a bloody stubborn mule and get walked all over. I hate to use the old cliche, but "Welcome to New Eden". |
