So, it's quite obvious now that Assault suits are less than worthwhile. Their bonus over basic suits is pretty unexciting, and at the same SP requirements as Logistics, which have far better slot loadouts, seem utterly pointless.
So let's put our heads together, rather than whine and cry about it. CCP has a good history of listening, let's talk about what would make all 4 racial assaults "better".
I'd like to avoid the following: More slots, more CPU/PG, more shields/armour.
Good suggestion example: "Caldari assault should have a bonus to (insert weapon) damage!"
So, what would make you stump up the SP for assault suits? Give your reasons too, as it helps to explain the context of the buff!
Personally, I think a blanket 2-5% per level (3% is the sweetspot I think, giving a 15% bonus) light weapon damage bonus would be good on all suits. It would make the assaults the hard hitters they should be. |

I like the Caldari Proto assault suit. The Racial bonus with shield is not too bad. But i'd take the damage bonus over reload bonus anyday |

I use the Minmater assault suit, and I'd take that anyday over the others for the speed. |

I'm sorry, but "more slots" is exactly what the assault needs. Each specialization should offer a different style of gameplay than the basic suits, and for that it must have a different slot layout than the basic suits. Logi does, assault does not (also a problem with Scout and Sentinel). Either give it an extra grenade slot or more mod slots.
You can't fix this problem purely with bonuses, but they could help. I would say bonuses like the Caldari Logistics improved shield extenders should of been for the Caldari Assault instead. The universal assault bonus should of been something a little more helpful to assault, like 2% weapon damage per level or 5% shield delay reduction per level. Heck, even 5% more ammo capacity would of been better than what we got.
Flat out, universal suit type bonuses should absolutely avoid anything to do with armor and shields. I am a Gallente player. My shields are at default 120, and I haven't invested a single point into them. Even if I got Shield Control to 5 for that extra 25% dropsuit shields, I would only gain 30 shield. It's just not worth it to me. As a result, 25% increase to shield recharge means nothing since my shields don't have much to recharge in the first place. Save these type of bonuses for racial specific suits, but keep the universal bonus something that is more helpful for everybody. |

Also, +2 reload speed? wtf kinda crap is that. should be +2% damage on hybrid weapons like you said, or make it the same bonus as the gallente with the CPU and PG reduction.

i'm sitting in excruciating anxiety as I await the HMG buff. it's going to leave the AR in the dark and at an even further deficit. this game is pretty ridiculous with the nerf/buffing. there are ALWAYS going to be players complaining about balance issues. but when the Dev's listen to EVERY complaint and can't get the balance right this close to release time.. it won't last. |
