CCP proved with the description on the Firebrand suit that they know that being super-visible on the battlefield is a negative, then they went and made it standard on an entire class. Calling out roles in an obvious fashion is just as stupid as putting shiny hats on officers so enemies know how to kill the leader.
Well they only did it so people could see who were logis and who were assaults until they make the new models for the logis.

Also don't all the suits look different. I think that's calling out all roles in an "obvious" fashion. So really they show your role just as much as anyone else.
The point is no one needs to SEE who the logis were and who the assaults are. Sticking out less is advantageous. That's why the game has stats like "Scan precision". If I can tell at a glance exactly what you are, it doesn't matter. Ex: Imagine you have five soldiers attacking you. You know one of them can revive his teammates, but the others are just grunts. Would it be helpful to kill the person that can support his teammates? Imagine if you could figure that out (you CAN with SCAN PRECISION!)
OR.... The suit designers can go full ****** and paint support characters bright yellow so people know where the medic/support character is. Which sounds like a more sound, rational decision on the part of a combat force? Bright yellow logis only helps the enemies.
All suits of a certain size COULD look the same. Assaults and Logis share a frame-size, it would make sense for them to blend in together to not give the enemy unneeded information. This is why the armed forces (say in Afghanistan, WW2 Germany, or whatever) didn't have officers in bright red jumpsuits while everyone else wore camo. It makes them targets! It gives enemies information!
Heavies and Lights will look different because they have to... because there is a literal size difference.
