Around 5000 players isn't terrible.
Gear of War Judgement, one of the only real Xbox 360 games in a while has ~7000 at any given time.
BF3 on PS3/360 has ~ 10 000.
Call of Duty however, has the expected ~50 000.
So, for a game with so many flaws it's not horrible. |

Well Gears of War Judgement was a fail game but still I agree 5000 isn't bad at all. |

~5,000 consistent really is pretty decent, especially when you consider how little advertisement there's been.
I'm not sure what numbers people were expecting with the game just now coming out of Beta (prematurely or otherwise). |

People are also assuming that those 5000 players on at any time are the only players this game has. There's a larger player pool that is simply signing on and off for a net flux of close to zero. I'd be really interested in finding out how many active players there are though (like played a complete match within the last week).
As long as I can find a match within 10 seconds of clicking search I'm fine. |

I'm inclined to finally agree.
Maybe a lot of us did jump the gun to say this number is pathetic - spoiled by the numbers we got during Open Beta. We knew that was the true release back then.

We also haven't gone into the release build just yet, and advertising has been minimal at best.

Take my thumb. 4k to 5k players does not make game dead yet but once it starts hitting the 1000s and down now there is a problem.

Edit: And to be honest, when I saw the number 5000 I was actually impressed by it and real surprised how pessimistic people were/are about it. I mean the game has LOTS of problems right now with next to no advertising, not to bad. |

Why say 5000? The all time record is 4662 on the Uprising release day; the top counted today on SP Wednesday was only 4276.
Saying the game has a concurrent 4300 on is a far more accurate statistic tbqh, and that's being optimistic...
