And haven't spent your SP yet, I'll save you the time it takes to think about your choice, choose logi. I'm sure many of you have already figured this out, but I was checking over the suits last night and realized how much win it was that I chose logi over assault (I played assault in past builds and is my class of choice).
Why go logi? Well whether you spec into logi or assault, you will also be speced into the basic medium suits as well (of whatever race you skilled in for your logi/assault suit). And aside from the lack of racial bonuses, they appear to be identical to the assault suits stat wise. So if you go the logi route, you will also have access to the assault basic suits as well. But if you chose assault, you will simply have access to the same suits, but with no racial bonuses.
Lets say you spend the ~4 million SP for proto assault or logi, here is what you get.
Assault proto has two choices:
1. Assault proto with racial bonuses
2. Assault proto with no racial bonuses
Logi proto has two choices:
1. Logi proto with racial bonuses
2. Assault proto with no racial bonuses.
So unless you really want/need those racial bonuses for your assault suit, logi is the best choice. Because at any moment I can start using an assault suit layout (yay, I get my sidearm back!), or stick with my logi suit with all the extra equipment slots. But if I had skilled into assault 100%, I would only have access to the assault suits. And would need to spend an additional ~4 million SP to spec into logi proto.
So for those who did go all into assault, any regrets? Or are the racial bonuses worth not having access to two different types of suits for the price of one?

I would still have access to the basic suits, which are same as assault with no racial bonuses, I can live with that. Plus I would still have my logi to use if I need it.
However I really don't see them completely re-doing the suits. But if they did, what do you think they would change? You can't gimp a legit logi player just to punish the assault players using that suit too. Logis already have less HP (and possibly bigger hitbox), which is already a slight downfall to using it over assault. |

Not sure about assault prices, but proto logi is something like 57k, proto basic is around 62k, so price difference isn't much, at least in comparison to logi suit prices. Although adv logi is 9k while adv basic is 15k.
And you know, I have actually become quite fond of the yellow
