XMB themes usually sound nice to me. Pricetags throw me off them though, and I never really feel like there is enough there.
I just took a look and their okay, though I think theme is stretching it. The icons are a different color, the backgrounds are okay (don't care for Caldari one). Also as a note, I don't think there is anything stopping me from downloading the new wallpaper I just thanked you guys for, and buying the XMB with the caldari medium suit or the pure leviathan crash and just loading the background from what I took off your site. I believe playstation will take whatever background I like and leave all other theme options to what I had selected. So 2 for 1. But I don't think you're paniced over potential "sales loss" there and etc.
In my opinion stuff like this isn't product, it's advertising. Not just for anyone who might see the screen but me. I am being subjected to the advertising because every time I get on my PS3, even if not playing Dust, I am subjected to a logo and imagery. The logo is a big deal for me for this distinction.

The above is great examples of desirable merchandise for me (also inside jokes). Plain shirts with big logos are maddening to me. I'm not a billboard and I may really enjoy something but it doesn't represent me and it's not what I like wearing. I'd wear it but why am I paying to advertise for you? It makes me feel more connected to a brand, I'm not wearing a brand I'm wearing a piece of the game or IP in a way. (Love my Iron Man arc reactor shirt. I don't care. I'm Iron Man. Screw You. No one else wear it. I'm the only Iron Man).
I'm getting off topic. So I earnestly thanked you for the wallpaper I now have on my computer. It's advertising to me but it's free and not bad so meh I'll use it. For the XMB I'd probably prefer the new game hover over or the more concepty wallpaper from before. What I feel would actually get more sales is digital item inclusion. For 1? No but maybe for a wallpaper pack, or things of that nature. TF2 has a good example of this with the inclusion of digital version of Balloonicorn and Archemedies. it's a little different as they have a market where these items can be traded and their value was much higher, but I'd look at those wallpaper packs for a simple skin or something even if a player market isn't open yet.
Anyway, long way around. We know more packs are in the works, and stuff like this would be less popular, but I would 100% be more interested in buying things like XMB themes that came with Dust514 redeemable items or any physical products that come with digital items as well. That being said you probably couldn't expect me to drop 150$ every month though you'll have it once soon... |

i like the new XMB DUST themes, but they are not good enough, they are static, they are basically a 2$ wallpaper!
Give us something we can-Št get anywhere else, i dunno. A minmatar heavy fixing his/hers suit with duck tape. |
