This is ridiculous there is no way any new player is going to stick around in Uprising only earning roughly 365 SP per week factoring in passive SP, while getting stomped by vets in Cal Logi-suits with Duvolle TARs (not really debatable, it IS the best suit and weapon in the game) that they won't even have access to for at least 6 months if they are training gear and core skills that they need. And even then, it's just basic Logistics.
Lack of variety across the board(viable suits, viable weapons, maps, roles in the beginning stages), multitude of bugs, SP sinks, and garbage matchmaking resulting in frequent pubstomps will be enough to drive even dedicated new players away from this game, which is a shame, since the general reviews of this game aren't that high to begin with(even to some dedicated Dust players).
SO if you were a new player, what would bring you in, and keep you in Uprising? |

By that time you have proto basic and can keep up just fine with most proto players. The reduction in cost of basic suits makes it very possible for new players to become good earlier. |

the fact that i like complex games and have wanted an FPS this complex brings me here, but that also makes me a minority in the console world. |

For sure the low attention span, low effort players will leave but there are plenty of players out there looking for a game that actually does take time and effort to progress in. I use Dark Souls as a great example - most people died once a minute but it was hugely popular and prided itself on being horribly difficult. A lot of people love a challenge and they will love this game. |

New players may likely play a few games or maybe even a few weeks but realize they can't compete and finally find a game they can be competitive in.
Some of us average skilled vets find ourselves unable to compete with proto geared players.
I along with others have said that a militia only game mode where no SP skills are applied needs to be made for player that want to compete in even match ups. |

Or even by tech level, some sort of matchmaking would solve so many problems. |

I think it's less about dying more about variety. When there is clearly 1 best weapon and 1 best suit, the game gets stale extremely fast, especially considering all you are doing is grinding until you have access to that weapon/suit. The only way you get away with lack of variety is making the best items easy to obtain, but grinding for it for months while getting stomped by them is going to be a huge turn off to new players. Are there enough players willing to come and stay to keep Dust going? |

It is this very reason that I dusted off my PS3 for this game. Does it need work right now, of course it does but the overall content of this game far surpasses the run n gun spray and pray dull minded gameplay of COD and BF.
Only time will tell if this game makes it or doesnt and its far too early to make any decisions. Then again this type of ongoing game development is not something console players are used to.
