Last night during our recording of Podside (soon to be on iTunes) we were able to get CCP CMDR WANG on and I had a chance to find out what was up with HMGs. The first thing of corse is that most of you career Heavys were used to sharpshooter and now thats gone and you know it. Next a %5 reduct to the base range was then taken off followed by a reduct to your damg. Now all of this was done because of gun stats and not by total player feed back.
All and all you got nerfed 3 times here on the gun alone and this is not counting your turn speed.
After talking with Adaris (a career heavy and director in TCD) before the show, he brought up two things to me that I did relay and that was "if range and damg is not coming back, then make the HMG have impact." What this means is that the bullets would have the ability to slow down the target once they come in contact making it hard for players (like scouts) to rush a Heavy head on. Then to take it farther, make the impact screw with their aim a bit like mass drives would. This would make the heavy scary once more and player would choose range over run'n'gun cqc on Heavys.
Now I'm not sure what changes may be made in the future to the HMG, but it dose seem like something will be done to it sometime soon. More and more feedback is being put together and you can get a better idea on that once you take a listen to the interview later on this week.
Other things were talked about as well such as the large turret cameras not lining up right with there shots looking up, Supply Depots taking away your suits and items like a death every time you switch and the ground that so loves to hold you in place while you're being shot.

i hide behind heavies using them as a meat shield but when the enemy kills it or gets close i charge them and kill them with either my nova knives or shotgun |

Tell CMDER Wangshimself to play his own game in a competitive field next time. And his comments that HMG users just aren't using the tree fully from your podcast last night made me nearly vomit. |

So HMG's would be given a suppression aspect like a Mass Driver? That would be interesting because I imagine a HMG would produce even more suppression than a Mass Driver. If CCP doesnGÇÖt want to give HMGGÇÖs back their range or damage then I guess this might work. The Heavy wouldnGÇÖt be too effective in getting kills, but they would be able to impact entire squads because of their incredible suppressive ability. If they go ahead and add this ability to the Heavy what would the range of suppression be? Would the suppression be at max if you got close to a Heavy and would it lessen the farther away youGÇÖre from a Heavy? Would it also be possible to get points for this suppression feature? If the Suppression was effective enough I would actually consider using HMGGÇÖs again regardless of whether I am getting points or not. Because I have seen how a Mass Driver can help their squad immensely through their suppression alone. Excellent post Shad. |

I'll look out for that podcast I think it'll be a good listen.
I like the idea Adaris had of giving the HMG *impact* and staggering your target. This would play quiet well into CCPs idea of having the HMG as a defensive weapon as once under fire the target would struggle to break away from the engagement and people would be far more wary of charging head long at a heavy knowing they could out manoeuvre them once close enough. It would also allow you to effectively pin down approaching enemies and give time for your team to bring their guns to bear. I don't think it would need to be much but say every bullet that hits does 0.25% reduction to target speed.
I'll hopefully do a day 3 review of playing a heavy later tonight.

the plus of all this is there are several CCP staff that have commented and confirmed (in not so many words) that they messed up the HMG and are devising a solution as we speak.

Lol he's the one who is most on our side getting the players feedback. WolfMan is the one to be look at. After seeing your IRC post about them still looking at stats for a change has me on edge. |

According to CCP, HMG =/= killing...
We're suppose to "suppress" aka, tickle enemies with our bullets and give them a smile with our cute and cuddly appearance. Unfortunately, being cute and tickling people does not give heavies WP / ISK.
